I'm so sad. We leave May 30. I read that Soarin' reopens June 2. Any one think I may be able to get a sneak peek before I leave? I hope so.

Anything is possible. I have to think they'll want to get it open sooner rather than later. I'm sure if they can reopen a few days early they will.
Plus there are almost always soft openings.
We got lucky with HM last December. It was due to open the day we were departing
We were at MK the day before and it had a soft opening a day early. No announcements, no FP but taking riders. So keep your eyes open while at Epcot

You may, you just never know. It's possible they'll wrap things up early...however, it may be even more likely that it's down even longer than June 2nd.

There is a possibility. We were there in March I think it was 5 days before I ride I wanted was scheduled to open, they did have several test runs though and we rode it quite a few times.

is this the closure when they change the movie? Will the new theater be opening at the same time as well?

The one report I've read indicated that the new movie would NOT be showing when the ride reopens.
I don't know if that is a confirmed fact or not.
Here's where I find things get very strange
DL has announced that the new Soarin Over the World movie will debut at DCA after the Holidays are over.
They will split time each week, a few days will be Over CA and a few days will be Over the World
So the movie is ready, or near enough to be ready to show at DCA, where they already have the new projection system
That has to mean there is no logical reason NOT to debut the new movie at Epcot when the ride reopens.
So I hope what I read is wrong

Yes. New movie and new theater. They should be opening at the same time.

I would imagine the are going to do like TSMM and have the new theater be for stand by while the old ones are exclusively FPP. It iwll be interesting to see how that system works out.

Well, I will take the old movie if I have to! Better than no Soarin' at all!

My party of 5 will be going to Epcot on the very day the Soarin' closes! I am hoping it gets delayed a day or two.

I thought the new theater was already in progress. I think this closure is solely to switch over to digital and the new movie.

It is but once it's finished they'll do more than just switch over to the digital. They have some reconfiguring to do too, to tie the new theater in. The above report mentions reworking of bathrooms also. Which is sorely needed
