Missing posts when going from page 1 to page 2 on the CB

As my post reached the bottom of the first page of posts on the Community Board, I noticed that it did not appear on page 2. I fooled around with the number of posts per page increasing it to 60 and my post reappeared at the bottom of page 1. It seems that there is a limbo region or that when the first page says that it is posting threads 1 through 50, that it is not really posting threads 1 through 50, but actually more like threads 1 through 47 or 48.

I thought you might want to look into this phenomenon. It's not really a huge problem on the CB because of the rapid rate of posting, but it might be a larger issue on some of the other boards. Perhaps it has something to do with announcements taking up some of the 50 slots on the first page and the scripting not taking that into account.

This has been a problem forever, and I don't think it's ever been fixed. I first noticed this months ago (probably last spring, and reported it). And have noticed it many times since then. But I don't think it's consistent.

It's not just the CB. I've seen it happen on other boards too.

The bottom post on a page will disappear when a new post is made, then reappear when another new post is made. Seems like there's a dead space between the two pages that holds one posts.

I'm not sure, but I think it's being caused somehow by those "Important" posts that are automatically at the top of the 1st page doing something. I remember at one time Pete had one of those kinds of posts that was going to the top of <u>every</u> page, and then the regular posts were disappearing and reappearing like crazy.
When Pete removed it (or fixed it so it was only on page 1), the problem 'seemed' to go away.
