Missing an ADR because of flight delay and $10/pp deposit?

We are flying in tomorrow afternoon and I'm just wondering if we can't make our Narcoossee's ADR for dinner because our flight was delayed or worse into MCO, will they give us back the $10/pp deposit. There are 7 of us and I have about 6-7 hours before the 24 hr cancellation policy. So far the flight is on time, so fingers crossed.

I know there are other travelers with much, much larger concerns and I am sure there are some stressed people trying to get to Disney from the Northeast and my heart goes out to them. I'm sure it's heartbreaking given all the planning and expense of a Disney trip, not to mention what is happening at homes/businesses.

I seriously doubt it - the reason that there is a pp deposit is to make sure that you all show up for the rezzie. The reason for not being able to make it is not a factor

Technically, there are no exceptions. You miss the reservation, you get charged.

You could always call Disney if you miss it, and ask for mercy from whoever you talk to. They may waive the charge for you; apparently sometimes they do. Or they may not. You are supposed to take possible flight delays and the the no-show charge into account when you make reservations for an arrival day when you are flying in.

I like the new rules regarding the ADR and the charge for late cancellations or no shows because it allows others to fill restaurant spots that are not wanted instead of people just not showing up and I can see why they would not skip the per person charge, need to be consistent with the rules. Having an ADR the night you arrive could add some stress on a travel day when you are hit with some unforeseen travel delays; however, I too love enjoying a nice sit-down dinner on my first night! I wonder if they would allow you to show up late for your ADR? And how much wiggle room they allow? Might be worth a phone call to Disney dining. Good luck on your trip!

Just wondering if the OP was going to pop back in and tell us how things turned out.:wave2:

We didn't end up being delayed fortunately, so it was a non-issue for us. The Concierge did tell us that they're pretty strict on the deposit and I don't mind that in general as I would rather be able to get a reservation than somebody booking multiple times for the same B/L/D reservation to no-show. But with 7 people, I was concerned if it was beyond our control would we still end up with a $70 penalty? My sense is they would try to help if you could justify the cancellation for something big like a flight issue that was beyond your control, but otherwise you would be out of luck. But he didn't say that specifically.

I inquired about another restaurant possibility for another breakfast reservation while we were there. I told the Concierge that I didn't want to book because we weren't sure we wanted to cancel the other reservation. He said you can have multiple bookings, but you do have to cancel one within 24 hours. I think he told me this because we were on-site, not that you should do this months in advance. We did end up canceling the initial breakfast reservation and did the one the Concierge helped us with on-site. Another Concierge member told me that it was good we cancelled because we would have been charged had we simply forgotten. She also said you'd be surprised how many people don't cancel reservations like Cinderella's Royal Table and that is a sticker shock or DDP major mess-up because they don't make many exceptions with refunding or DDP reinstatements for those.

I never make make ADRs that need a credit card guarantee on our travel day. I thought most people didn't. Getting there is stressful enough without worrying about that.
