Missed our FLIGHT!!!!!

BUT, look at it this way........for some reason unknown to us, you were NOT meant to leave today. All things happen for a reason right?

I truly believe things like this. It never fails to amaze me how things turn out better when something bad like that happens. Once DH, DS and I were driving 6 hours to my mother-in-law’s for Thanksgiving. We stopped about half way for gas, snack, potty break. When we got back to get in the car I had taken something out of the trunk and needed to put it back. Well, this car had a tempermental locking system and at times you could not open the trunk. We spent about 5 minutes trying to get the trunk open before we were able to leave. Well, as soon as we pulled out of the gas station we saw a bad wreck that probably would have been for us if we hadn’t been delayed. So, go on with the trip knowing God had a reason you didn’t need to be driving to the airport this morning or on that flight today or didn’t need to be at the hotel today or didn’t need to be somewhere or even that you needed to be somewhere else.

Believe me, It can alway be worse. Examples: 1) a family member could get hurt 2)ALL your money get stolen while on vacation 3) You can be stuck in a airport instead of at home. 4) You guys oversleeping causes you to cancel the whole trip, instead of a few days pay. 5) etc...

Like I said, it could definitely be worse. So go and have fun! :flower:

Oh my goodness, I'm reading this and agonising with you. I'm sure all will be well from here on out. You may not see this before you go, but I hope you got there alright and had a fabulous time.
Personally, I have almost missed flights before because I scheduled them very early am and found it hard to wake up. After doing that more than once, I always schedule flights now for late morning through evening, unless it's for something like a funeral and I have no choice. My thinking is, if I'm at the airport any earlier than 7am, I'm going to be too tired to do anything, anyway, by the time I get to my scheduled destination.

I'm sorry that you missed your flight. I hope that your trip ends up being absolutely magical. I know your going to have fun once you get there.

Last year, I had a flight booked out to Boca Raton, FL on Jetblue to go to a company Xmas party. Not WDW, I know, but FL just the same. Anyway, DH usually insists about getting to the airport 90 minutes + early in case of problems. This time I was to fly alone, but he drove me to the airport. We only got there 45 mins early, and had to park far away & walk to the terminal. By the time I got to check in for my boarding pass, the flight had already closed for boarding. I had to stick around the airport for the next flight, which was an hour after. It wasn't too bad, as they didn't charge me, and I had DH and my gameboy to keep me company for a while. I guess DH couldn't stand to be without me, so he tried to assist me in missing my flight...at least that's the only way I can get it to make sense.. I would have been much more upset about missing my flight to WDW, especially if it cost that much more & there was nothing available the same day. But luckily, you were able to add days to the back end of your trip.
Let me tell you, I am the queen of Murphy's Law...going to WDW 3 days after the free dining plan expires, decided not to take the .98 HI hotel room in WDW, and just this AM, was supposed to be involved in a company conference call, but I didn't have the #, and they put the regular phone lines on voice mail, so I couldn't even call to get the number! I am, as you probably are, thankful that my bad luck only extends to things like this. Your family is still happy & healthy, and going to enjoy the best vacation at the "happiest place on earth" tommorrow! That's priceless! :cool1:

When we go I book a cheap hotel 5-10 min. from the airport for that very reason, or what if the car breaks down. I'm not taking any chances.

1) For morning flights, we do the same thing.
2) We pick a nearby hotel with a free shuttle.
3) Many now offer free week parking if you stay the day before.
4) Haven't missed a flight (business or pleasure), and don't want to start.
5) There are too many things that can happen
. . . we can oversleep the alarm clock or just hit the snooze too often
. . . there can be an accident causing traffic jams
. . . the car could break down
. . . we could have a flat tire
. . . we could change our mind before leaving (OK, so not too likely)

You should have packed up and gone to the airport right away. Chance are you would have flown out a lot sooner for a lot less than $800.

OK, that is just plain mean of you...LOL As if I needed to hear that piece of advice now! Oh well, with 6 of us I doubt we would have been able to do that.

It's a new day. We are leaving out shortly for the airport and everything is going to be great. We are going to have a great time. We are going to have a great time. We are going to have a great time.. I'm saying nothing else the rest of the trip. LOL
Thanks for the heart-felt messages. I'm better today. Just needed that good cry yesterday.
BY everybody!!!!!! Off to Disney :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :earsgirl:

I am so sorry to hear that the beginning of your holiday is everyone's worst nightmare! :grouphug:
So glad to hear you were able to get the extra days to make up for what you have missed-hope you have a worry free holiday!

This is terrible! I know you are already gone as I type this, but I sincerely hope you have an absolutely wonderful trip! :goodvibes

I probably would've just loaded everyone in the car and headed out driving (and probably would've ran out of gas or something since I would not have been prepared to do such a thing!)

Let us know when you return how the trip turned out! :grouphug:

OMG! :earseek:

Hope tomorrow goes better for you.
