Missed cruise

Hi all

Due to a medical emergency, I wasn’t able to make our cruise that left on Saturday.

I ‘think’ my husband informed Disney but I wanted to check if I’ll get charged for no shows like palo, nursery etc.

I’ll be claiming the cruise back through travel insurance but wasn’t sure if I should do anything else.

Gutted to have missed it, being discharged today so very glad I wasn’t on board!

Sorry you had to miss the cruise and you are feeling better. All I can tell you is how DCL handled it when my niece had to leave a cruise early. The day she disembarked, they cancelled all of her reserved items from that date through the end of the cruise without penalty. The day she left she had actually gone on the morning excursion and left after that. They even credited the charge for that excursion. I had to go to GS to explain to them that they needed to add the charge for the excursion back on since she had gone and the vendor would probably charge DCL for it. (They settled her account before she left the ship; but since we were covering her expenses they showed up on our bill and didn't notice that until a couple days later.) So I imagine if you don't board, they cancel your onboard account and everything that you had reserved without penalty.

I'm sorry you missed the cruise, but glad you are well enough to be discharged.

You can check to see whether the credit card you put on file for the cruise was charged. (If you didn't have a card on file, then nothing could have been charged.) My guess is that Disney Cruise wouldn't charge for anything if you never boarded, but that's just a guess. If they did charge you, the charge should go through by the final day of the cruise, so you should wait to file your travel insurance claim until you're sure of everything that is eligible for reimbursement.

I had to file a claim for a cruise missed due to a medical issue several years ago, but we cancelled before the cruise departed. I can tell you the process for filing a claim was straightforward, but did require a trip to my doctor's office to get a signed verification that (a) I canceled due to a medical condition and (b) the condition was diagnosed after my final payment for the cruise.
