Missed 180-day mark for ADRS . . . first time ever!

Well, for the first time in 11 years I missed my 180-day mark for making ADRS! I still can't believe it. Fortunately, I did realize it around 1pm that afternoon while sitting in a doctor's waiting room with my Dad and scrambled around on my phone to get what I could. I was fortunate enough to get everything except one . . . yep, 'Ohana! The only thing available was a 9:40pm on our last night so, of course, I snagged it, but will aggressively be watching to see if I can get an earlier one on the date I really want it. Wonder if there's any chance?

Wow, pretty good all things considered. Even though I'm pretty much counting the days until June 1 so I can do my ADRs I still get anxious from time to time thinking I'll do the same thing and remember like 3 days later. I should really set some alarms up on my phone.

Yes, I wish I had done that! I have always been so anxiously awaiting the date that its never been an issue. I guess I've just been a little distracted lately with my Dad being sick, moving my daughter to South Carolina for the summer etc., that it just totally slipped up on me. I don't know when I would have realized it if I hadn't been scrolling through emails on my phone that afternoon and saw one that TP sent the day before saying I could make my ADRS the next day!

I'm always ready for my 180 day mark but this year for some reason I didn't do it. I actually waited a couple of days after and decided to go down my list. I figured if something wasn't available I would just try something else. To my surprise I was able to get each and everyone (including BOG) and at the times I wanted. Our trip is 06/28-07/09.

I would say to keep trying for Ohana. Don't give up. My daughter said to me last week that she really wanted to do Cali Grill during fireworks time. I told her she was crazy. I kept checking EVERY day and on day 4 we got it! I couldn't believe it.

I'm sure you'll find an earlier Ohana ADR if you keep checking.

You could try posting lots of negative reviews about 'Ohana so that others might cancel their plans...(I'm KIDDING!!)

For our last trip, during Thanksgiving week for 8 people, I was able to snag an 'Ohana ADR well past our 180 day mark....just keep checking:)

Oh, man, I almost did the same thing...no alarm, nothing. But somehow woke up on the morning of with it on my mind.

We actually love late night at Ohana for the fireworks, but, yes, there's a chance. You may have to stalk the website or the cancellation thread though.

However, if it doesn't open, I would show up at your preferred time (or earlier) and ask if they can accommodate you by moving your ADR up. If so, they can override your 9:40 pm in the system so you won't be charged.

Good luck!

This is the first time that we've booked a trip well enough in advance that I can actually make ADR at the 180 mark! I'm usually working with a 90 day window at best. However, today is my ADR day and the system is down! o_O I feel like the universe is playing a joke on me.

As for 'Ohana - we got ADR twice with only a 2 week lead time on the last trip, so just keep trying. Wishing you lots of luck!!

Okay, and now I'm wondering -- how do you effectively plan your ADRs so far in advance without knowing park hours? I usually determine the park we'll be at for the day, then decide on a restaurant. Maybe I should work backwards instead.

Couple of years ago I started booking at 90 days and got everything by the trip. I finally got a dp a week before.

I booked my trip at 175 days this year and didn't realize it until the TA told me at the end of the call. I almost fainted. We were going to go a month later and because of a great deal changed last second. I usually spend a week going over park hours and making an entire plan before doing ADRs and literally had to throw it together in hours to start booking ADRS. Luckily we are going Labor Day week and it was still wide open. I got everything including BOG and OHANA. Luckily BOG didn't open up September times until weeks later so no problems. But wow, what a panic.

Ohana is doing enough already to earn it's negative comments. Lol... To the OP. Good luck and keep trying, I'm sure you will get lucky and something will open for you.

Update: I was able to score an 8:05pm for 'Ohana on a different night, but still not on Friday (the night I really want it as we'll be in MK that day). I took it anyway, of course, and will continue checking . . . so we're making progress! :thumbsup2

I always set a reminder on my phone for the adrs and fpp bookings. I would never remember if I did not do that.
