Miss Wilderness Lodge.. and the music?

Oh no :( Do they play that music in the lobby? I don't know why I never thought of that before. Of course it makes sense that this type of music would be played at WL. My late Dad was a huge fan of Western movies and I can't even listen to a snippet of a song like that without getting emotional. Fortunately I don't hear such music too often as it's not too often now they show Westerns on TV. His second anniversary occurs while I'm at WDW and we're staying at WL. I guess I need to prepare myself for some emotional memories :(

Don't be sad. Just remember how happy he was watching those movies.
One of my early memories was watching John Wayne's movie "Cowboys" with my late Grandpa. He passed while I was still young. The music from the WL lobby sometimes reminds me of one of the scenes from that movie and I almost smell my Grandpa's cheap cigar. He was one of those that rarely lit it, but it was always in his mouth.

Thanks so much - that's a really nice message.

I remember sitting with him watching 'Shane' with Alan Ladd. It was an *old* movie when I watched it (in case anyone thinks I'm in my 70's or anything :)). And he *loved* Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Maybe that's why I *instinctively* liked the look of WL. My Dad was always reading books about cowboys and indians (is that term politically correct?! :confused3) and scouring the TV guide for Westerns. You're right - I should just think of how happy those movies made him. Thanks again :)

Oh, my Dad smoked a pipe. Speaking of political correctness - in our age where we do our best to keep our children far away from (passive) smoke it makes me laugh to remember how I *loved* the smell of his pipe. I used to go right up and inhale deeply...... I turned out alright too *cough cough*
