Miss Universe--Anyone watching?

Ok I looked for a thread, but I couldn't find anything.
Wondering if anyone is watching? Ms. Japan just answered her question in French, which was funny since the interpreter was Japanese. Then she spoke in English which was cute. The Project Runway dress looked good on Ms. USA.

I know! I couldn't remember anything about PR! I thought Japan was going to win it after we were elimated...

I really thought it was going to me Miss Japan. Miss Puerto Rico is a lovely person, but her dress looked like something from show girls.

Pretty well known that the Miss USA and Miss World competitions are based heavily on ability to model and "the horse and pony show" as those in the Miss America system call it. It's much more heavily based on looks than education and scholarship (that's not to say have a good bady and pretty face aren't pre-requisites in the Miss America circuit...). I had a girlfriend who competed in Miss Florida USA last weekend- she was actually Mulan at Disney for several years.

My point- the show girl look may not fly for Miss American, but it does for Miss World

Personally I thought that Miss japan got jipped! I thought she was way prettier and more graceful than Miss Puerto Rico.

I wish they had a talent competition though.

There's a story on cnn.com today that Miss PR passed out on stage about 45 minutes after winning the crown. She's fine though.

I saw that her dress was made out of metal and the assumption is she just got too hot under the lights. The article implied that when mentioning the material and stage lights and passing out.
