Ok, here's a question I've never seen before - can I get food to go? If, let's say, I want to get the yummy fried chicken dinner at 50's Prime Time, and take it to go instead of waiting for a table - well, has anyone ever done this?

And do you think they'd take a TS credit for it, if you did?

I was at the Prime Time a couple of months ago when a couple came up wanting to do the same thing. The CM told them that they do not give foods to go. She said they are busy enough with people eating in and cannot accomodate carry out.

Interesting.... good to know.

With wild indians - - we do this at home - - so we can enjoy new meals with out disturbing others! :stir:

Bummer, indeed - here and I thought I was going to be so innovative, and bring real great munchies to Fantasmic!

Has no one ever gotten a 'to go' at a WDW restaurant?

I'm curious, if you could take food to go out of the Prime Time where would you take it. Wouldn't it be cold before you got back to your room?

DH and I got our dessert to go last year at CRT(dining plan). All the resort restaurants we went to allowed this as well.

Often they will let you get a dessert or a milkshake, sometimes a soda to go after you eat your meal there. If you have leftovers, you could also box them up to go as well. But you may not get an entire meal to go, and bypass the sit and the table, eat, leave a tip, etc. routine first. If you really wanted to eat the (probably room temp by then) fried chicken, you could save a piece and box it up and eat it there, just not the whole meal, kwim?

I love getting a pb and j shake to go, bc I'm usually too full from my meal to drink it then!

Dec. 2004 we had the cheese soup & pretzel bread as carry-out at LeCellier.

I had read that others had done it, and wanted to try the soup, but a whole meal there was not in our budget.

We asked at the podium, and the CM had to check to see if a server was available. It was freezing that night, so they kindly offered to let us go inside to wait. The server came to the lobby to take our order, then brought it out when it was ready. We did include a gratuity.

After all that, we didn't like the soup. :)

If your main concern is waiting for a table, you could always order your food from the bar/soda fountain when a stool becomes available (they don't call you, you just grab a seat when someone leaves). A waitress or waiter works there and can get you drinks, dessert, etc. I assumed it was just for drinks and desserts, but other people beside us got whole meals. We did that for dessert, and were in and out in no time whereas there was a 3 hour wait for a table. The CM was still interactive in that Prime Time way, although not as much as ones we've had at actual tables.

Maybe Disney should have a "to go" item at each restaurant, you know, the item that is hyped the most, such as the cheese soup at Le Cellier, the Tonga Toast at Kona, ... :)

After talking to several CMs at different restaurants such as The Brown Derby etc.... we were told that carry out or to go orders would no longer be available due to the food spoiling. For example; We use to go to The Brown Derby and order the Cobb salad and grapefruit cake to go then we'd leave MGM and have a meal in our room. What happened is a lot of people just like us would get meals to go or have their leftovers boxed up and stay in the park and then would get food poisoning then complain. Disney has now changed the rules to no carry out and they are also trying to do away from carrying out leftovers.

Hmmmmm... that doesn't make much sense, given that folks are regularly expected to carry-out food from counter-service eateries. It sounds more like the kind of answer a CM would give if they didn't know, and felt obligated to provide an answer anyway.

Last year when I was sick my family brought me a meal back from Restaurant Marrakesh, that they ordered when they were ordering their dessert. I wonder if that sort of thing is going to be stopped as well?

I was thinking of getting the fried chicken dinner to go, and taking it and my DH over to Fantasmic. It doesn't sound like this is going to happen . . .oh, well!

Most TS dinners woudn't travel very well, I would think, but fried chicken would . . .
