Misinformation from CMs?

hmm, this happened to me once...

Guest: excuse me, where can i find the bathroom?
Me: its over there!?
Guest: are you just telling me that because you dont know where the bathroom is?
Me: no no no, its over there.
Guest: okay.

If you really want a correct answer, ask a CM familiar to the department, like if you want to find where the nearest Churro cart is, ask someone from another cart, they will know. If you want to find a certain item in a store, ask a store CMs. etc etc.

we dont do it too be mean, we do it as a joke. 90 percent of the times i joke and misguide someone its kinda obvious i am lying, the guest laughs, then i tell them the real answer. sometimes they walk away. And believe what you want..:)

I do also mislead, but not in directions. I do that when i vend. Its true, for giggles/laughter, but i definitely wont let them walk away without knowing the answer. Like...

Guest: Can i get a water please?
Me: sure, that will be $20.
Guest reacts
Me: JUST KIDDING! $3 please.
Guest reacts
Me: thank you, have a nice day!

If i dont know the answer, i wont make one up, i would apologies that i cant answer the question and point them to where they can get the answer.

Albort that's the right way to do it... but to intentionally mislead someone the way Hologram described isn't!!!

I always ask a security CM if I have a question. I fugure with "x" number of CM's working in the park it would be impossible for everyone to know what is going on. Otherwise I stay informed by the people on the boards.

i always misguide people because its HILARIOUS and gives us CM's stuff to talk about on our breaks.

If you think that we are so stupid for caring about something...why don't you stop coming here. We come here to talk, laugh, and get information. Not be insulted by something who doesn't even care. So please, be a bit nicer.

Its too bad people cant open their eyes, read the maps in their hands and find out where things are on their owns. Tourists...ahh phooey!

If it were not the tourists ACE, your little town along with your mind would even be in more trouble than it already is. Look at the what has happened to the housing prices in the big OC. And I do think the CM's care about their guests. Would love to meet you.

Jack

I kind of think getting info from a CM is the same as asking a hotel worker in New York what the hours of the Statue of Liberty are. They may know, they may not. Hopefully if they don't, they'll come clean and say so, but sometimes they THINK they know and just want to be helpful. It is sort of like when you ask a department store worker a question about a part of the store they don't work in. On a MUCH bigger scale! They will try to give you an answer just to help you out, but they could be just guessing.

How about this one:

Guest: Can I get a glowing Mickey balloon please?
Me: sure, that will be $12.
Guest reacts
Me: No, I'm not JUST KIDDING! $12 please.
Guest runs away screaming, clutching wallet to chest
Me: thank you, have a nice day!

:rotfl:

A vendor approached with those balloons, and Disney ordered a thousand of them. They had to reorder twice in a week - that's how fast they're going.

They are just beautiful....

I used to like the security idea, but still they don't know everything. I got to help out during our May trip, b/c a woman was asking about a DCA restaurant that took vouchers, and all the security guy could think of was Ariel's, b/c he was working the "rope drop" line near GRR and really only had people asking him about having b'fast at Ariel's.... And of course the voucher thing gets into WDTC stuff, which I wouldn't expect most CMs to know about, so in this case, a well informed guest was better than the security CM. But he was a lot funnier than I am, I'll give him that! :goodvibes

You know, when I was working at WDW, I was quite greatful for those tourists... because if not I wouldn't have had a job! Maybe you should think about looking at it the same way.... :sad2:

A CM told my mom that Tinkerbell in Pixie Hollow was a computer generated 6 inches high interactive experience! She was a little miffed to find that he was pulling her chain.

if a CM lied to me like that I'd make it my job to hunt him down and make him pay lol In fact I'd look for him every day of my trip and remind him what a jerk he was...ask 5000 annoying questions like "where is the nearest bathroom" and definitely let his manager know how he lies. I have come across soooo many rude CM's at DL this year and it make me sad and angry. If you dont want to work there and be happy...go be grumpy at target. I dont want you on my vacation.
