My hubby and I just retuned home from our 25th anniversary trip to the world. While we didn't stay at the Fort during this trip, we did visit the Fort...a lot. :goodvibes

We talked to a manager at the Trail's End during lunch who told us that, in spite of rumors, Hoop-Dee-Doo would be accepting ADR seating for the Oct.-Dec. time period sooner rather than later. :thumbsup2 We sure hope he is right. Trail's End lunch was great. My hubby highly recommends the pulled pork sandwich...delicious and enormous.

Fort specific merchandise available at the Settlement - tee shirts, mugs, car tags, magnets and stickers/decals. There may have been a few other small magnet type stuff, but I can't remember anything right now. The staff tells us if we want to see more, we should write, call, etc. and request more fort specific stuff.

Overall the Fort looked great except for the road/concrete work at the front bus stop. Hopefully it will be complete soon. I will say it rained on us EVERYDAY. We still had a great trip and feel blessed that we were able to spend our 25th anniversary in WDW. We highly recommend Shades of Green (military eligibility required) if the Fort is not an option.

Glad you had a great time and 25th. We were going to celebrate our 25th last year at the fort but I broke my ankle so we will be there for 26 instead.

I hope you are right about HDDR. I would be surprised that it would be closed for any reason during the busy holiday/late December season. You would think they would schedule any down time during the slower periods at the Fort.

I love picking up FW-specific merchandise. I mean little things like decks of cards, fridge magents, pens, etc.

I called last week to make reservations and I was told the HDDR will be closed Oct 1 to Dec 31. The woman said that first it was only a rumor but now it has been confirmed and it will not be open. She said "the powers that be felt that this would be the time to close it, after the summer crowd." I thought that weird because I have been there over Halloween the last 5 years and have gone to the HDDR each time and it has always been crowded.
Will be there again this year and am bringing the son's girlfriend. We were so disappointed to hear it would be closed.
I sure hope the Trails End manager knew what he was talking about...
