Mis-Informed Disney agent told me that my deposit was refundable, but no. . .

I recently booked a Disney Package for a trip starting March 7. Because the trip was less than 60 days away, the agent said that I needed to put a deposit down of $200, and pay the balance within a week, or my reservation would cancel. I told agent that I had just requested a Disney Rewards card for the points on my Disney Visa Card, and I would pay the balance of the trip when I got the Rewards Card, though it wasn't supposed to be in until the 27th. She said no problem, she would note the reservation and everything would be fine. And it was. She also said that when I get my rewards card, they would refund my deposit to my Disney Visa card, and apply the total cost of my package to my Disney Rewards card including the deposit. I said great. Today I got my Rewards Card and called to apply the dollars to my package. I was told by the agent that they were not supposed to refund deposits back to Disney Visa Cards, and wouldn't do it. Not happy at all.

Call back and talk to someone else. Ask for a supervisor.

I just called and talked to another agent, and that agent refunded my $200 deposit to my Disney Visa and applied the $200 charge to my Rewards Card. I guess the moral of the story is, don't always believe what Disney Agents say, because many times they just don't know what they're talking about.

Replace "don't always" with "hardly ever" and you will be fine. ;)

I think more times than not people in the Customer Service arena are getting less training and don't know how to do things. Many times their fall back position is "We can't do that" instead of finding out if it can or can't be done.
