"Miracle on Main Street USA!" - Ya just gotta read this!

Hi! I am such an idiot - some quotes turned out okay - others not ...so I highlighted those in Dark Red to make it easier to navigate!

Hey there! Yet another Peep here! Wow - you and your family definitely need this trip! And it sounds like you have a wonderful family! I'll try to give my answers to of your questions
.

Thanks Wonders10 for all your advice - MMVCP is a go plus the dinner PKg with the Candelight Process. is a must I think.

Another Peep on board! What a moving story, your kids sound great, as your trip is so far away I would wait untill you're sure you're definately going before telling the kids. There again once the DIS addiction strikes and it doesn't take long :rotfl2: you'll have a hard time explaining why you're on a Disney website for so many hours. :lmao:
Hi! Yes they know I am on line a lot - my DD is the snoopiest - she came in and saw my ticker and said, "That is so cool. Disney let's you know how many days it is until Christmas." Thank you God for the fact she did not get out the calendar to check specifics. I said "Yeah., they want everyone to know how many days so we can start shopping for next year!" She had no clue.

Great start on a great story!! I have been to the world twice and hope to go in May, kind of a quick spur of the moment trip really, havent done ANY planning as not sure that we will still get to go...but anyhoo - I'll be checkin in with you !!! SEe you on the Peeps board!

Harleygirl - YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Dizneydawn glad to have you. I came here after I saw you on the Peeps thread. I so hope that you guys can go it seems that you need it.
Hi Pigget - Thanks for the encouragement. I will get some feedback from them in the guise of going in Feb 2008

Hi another Peep checking in!

Love reading ya on the Peeps - is that you in the Pic w/ the green hair?

Have fun with the planning.

4) I really have no idea how you get a family to the airport without telling them about it--especially when they are old enough to need advance notice to miss tests at school. Perhaps you could tell them that you are going somewhere else--somewhere that doesn't get them excited.
This is the biggest problemo! I have 2 in HS next year and 1 in Middle school - I will talk w/ teachers ahead and see what we can do. They will have to work w/ me cause this will be great.

[QUOTE=natale1980;16659092]I don't know how your going to keep that big of a secret for a year!! I couldn't do it:scared1: I know I have a huge mouth!

Just another peep, pooping in! I have to admit the part about how your kids dressed you to go to the er had me in tears! My kids have also grown up with a mom with health problems, mine makes me pass out , so my poor kids have found me in various places in diffrent stages of dress and undress!
Maybe we can get a support group together! Were they tears of laughing I hope! At the time not so funny but after...just gotta laugh!

UPDATE!!!!

Here's what I decided for the surprise reveal as of now!

Let all the kids know we have an appointment coming up. Load them all up into the vehicle for a group event like physicals or Dentist. They would not be surprised since we always go as a huge group. Get all the suitcases beforehand to my sister. She will have a friend drop her off at the airport with all our luggage.

Tell kids we need to pick up Aunt before the appt because her ride just cancelled. I will have her call me after everyone is in the car and act like this is a spur of the moment excurssion. We show up at the airport in the pick-up area and they will get out to hug her etc...then it will dawn (no pun intended) on them how much suitcases she has and the fact that it is ours. I will then have them read the luggage tags - which will say - Disneyworld Christmas Surprise!

Okay so it is going to go something like that! I know details may have to change a little but it will go something like that! The hardest part is to not tell any friends becaus ethey all have kids who are friends with our kids and you know if I say one thing ...someone will spill the beans. So i feel like a traitor but...my family comes first! :thumbsup2

Whatcha think???

If you type in "/quote" inside square brackets after the end of the quote that aren't showing up it should solve your problems.

Make sure you tell the teachers that it is a surprise and mention it briefly in any further conversations so that they don't accidently let something slip. I also recommend that you approach the teachers with appreciation for all that they do and a statement along the lines of, "I understand that I am asking a lot of you and that I am adding to your workload but this trip is really important for our family (you'll have to decide how much of the story to share) and I wouldn't ask otherwise." (There is a letter that I have seen circulating that essentially describes a disney vacation as "better education than school". Teachers will just get annoyed about the extra work you are asking them to do if you belittle their work & commitment.) I suspect that with the right approach and shared information most will be happy to help out--but you might have to find a way to get your kids to write tests early (writing tests early almost always leads to better results than waiting until after a vacation) as well as get to the airport.

Sounds plausible. I'd make sure you give yourself lots of time for something to go wrong (i.e. plan to be at the airport earlier than usual) and for your kids to call their friends to tell them about the surprise trip--most teens have plans that their parents are unaware of. Gotta say, I'd be surprised!

Oh yeah, your sister will also have to stay out of contact (and sight) for a few days beforehand so that they (think they) know why she is at the airport.

Wow! I echo the other sentiments--how are you going to keep this secret for so long?

Hematite 153 - Great advice - I will talk next year to the teachers in advance - we have an awesome networking sytem w/ e-mail so that will be easy. I know wht you mean about appreciation - my DH was an elem ed teach - the school has been really good about the kids missing before as long as they were not getting bad grades or missing loads of school due to illness.

As far as the kids go and their schedules w/ friends. I have thought about that. - we will have Treyner's B-day w/ friends the week before. MYDH family is from Iowa and the past 2 years they have had Christmas in Iowa (which is only a 5 hour drive away) and we have gone there. So we will probably let them think that that is the plan again.

I had thought about using that as a ruse to get suitcases in the car but they all pack their own stuff at this point so shorts is not really something they would pack on their own in Dec! If we had ever flown to Iowa before that may even work as a reason to get them to the airport buut we never have. Maybe...we could let them think we were going to KC to my BIL home....thinking, thinking....That way they have bags packed - I just move out sweaters and in shorts while they are at school...plus that way they would tell friends they were going to be gone awhile. Hmmm...have to think about that one. That way swimsuit, underclothing etc. would be packed for a hotel stay. I will have to keep contemplating. We have flown to KC before. So many possibilities. We could have them stand away from the ticket counter upon arrival...plus we always hand the agents the tickets...they may not know until we were at the gate. Plus...if we arrive late enough..they may not pay attention to the screen of destination. Ipods are awesome so they probably won't be listening if I shove them at them....I could also say that this was a connecting flight for people going on to Florida. We have been on those before. Just a quick stop in KC and on to Florida. Would not that be awesome to get them all the way to FLORIDA w/ no clue. Man that would be sweet!

Thanks for the tips! I am going to explode over the excitement! SHHHH!!!

I think the first idea of making them think you're picking up your sister will probably trick them more. If you tell them you're going to yoru brother's wouldn't they wonder why they're missing school for that and not just waiting until break? I think it sounds great! A question though, are you completely set on the Poly? There are several cheaper alternatives that would save you lots of money since your dh is worried about that! I completely understand though if you really want to stay there! Good luck planning the trip, sounds like you already have a lot worked out!

Hi - my In-laws are nuts and they know that! :rotfl2: So Christmas has been the weekend before for the last 2 years. I would probably tell them that
we were going to be gone only a few days. (sat - Tues. for example.) MY 16 year old is looking at colleges so I could use the guise of extending the weekend to look at college at KU.

The Poly vs. the Music family sweets was only $300 difference because the Music Suites was not offering that discount due to availability. $300 is 2 Tupperware parties. I can do that!!

We have 5 adults basically so need either 2 rooms or a suite. The Poly rooms are bigger so they sleep 5.

Thanks for the advice and questions...without you guys I will slip up and not think of something!

How big is your DD? POR has rooms that sleep 5 although I have heard that adults don't like sleeping on the (trundle?) bed that holds the 5th. Just a thought, if you are trying to make things cheaper. Although not the Poly, it's a nice resort and you can use amenities at both PO resorts.

Duh I'm so thick just realised you're the same person who's photo I saw on the Peep thread. :rotfl2: It's nice to put a face to a TR! I miss Bee's Siggie photo because as soon as you saw it you knew who was speaking.
