Minnie's breakfast vs. Goofy's Kitchen

I'm trying to decide between the two for our character breakfast. It will be on my son's 6th birthday and I want him to have a really good time. Does anyone have a preference for one over the other? If I let them know when I make the PS that it's my son's birthday, will they sing Happy Birthday? I was thinking of ordering a cake too, although I'm not sure about having one in the morning with breakfast. Any suggestions? Thanks.

For a birthday I would do Goofy's Kitchen. We were there 2 weeks ago for my sons 6th birthday, we told the waiter and at the end of our meal he brought out cake with a birthday candle and Goofy was there to sing happy birthday to him. He loved it. I think Goofy's is also more of an upbeat restaurant. The kids get to do the macarena with Goofy periodically and another thing (I can't remember what the song was) where they get to bang on plastic pots and pans with him. I noticed your pic of Chef Mickeys, Goofy's reminds me a lot of that restaurant except on a smaller scale.

We also had breakfast at Minnie and friends and while the food was good and there were lots of characters, there was nothing else going on. It was much more laid back.

I would think Goofy's would be good for a birthday meal. It was quite lively and like the previous poster said there is a dance and "parade" every half hour or so. However, if you have children that prefer a more laid back atmosphere... I would suggest elsewhere. My kids were a tad overwhelmed at first (since we walked in to kids banging pots and pans) but they warmed up after a bit and attempted to participate lol.

Its been a couple of years but our last two visits to Goofy's Kitchen were not good. We'll be trying Minnie's on the next trip.

It sounds like Goofy's Kitchen would probably be what my son would prefer. We'll be there though with my friend and her son who has Aspergers syndrome. Do you think he might find Goofy's too overwhelming?

We're having brunch with Minnie & Friends this Sun. (DS's 8th B~day) We're planning a trip back to DLR early Dec. I'd like to have a late breakfast at Goofy's then.

I've done both and we much preferred Minnie over Goofy. There was hardly any character interaction at Goofy, we got a lot more attention at Minnie's.

We did Goofy's last year and really enjoyed it. We were seated right by the entrance the characters use to enter and exit the restaurant and it seemed much quieter in that section. I think our reservations were for 8:00 am. We saw Chip & Dale, Snow White, Mulan, Goofy, and some other characters which I just can't remember right now with a couple of them coming by twice. They all came by our table and spent some time chatting to the kids. I didn't feel like they rushed through at all.

Not sure. My husband found it a bit overwhelming at first, as did my kids. I had to tell them to sit down while I got food for everyone. After that though, they were fine (we entered during the pots and pans parade thing).
As another poster said, the seating area over by the character entrance seemed a lot more mellow than the rest of the place. Perhaps you could request a seat in that area?

However, I have never done Goofy's yet. We just celebrated my son's 6th birthday this past Sunday at Minnie's and we LOVED it!!! I agonized over the two breakfasts and I think ultimately, it comes down to which environment is better suited for your child as well as convenience and characters. The only thing we were disappointed with was there was no Mickey, Pluto or Goofy. However, I was told by a cast member that "since Mickey became mayor of Toowntown, he no longer has time to go to any of the breakfasts. Ha ha! I knew that we wouldn't see those characters and while they are my child's favorites, he is not the type of kid to get up and dance and alot of noise overwhelms him. Also, we were going to be in the park for early entry/magic morning and I didn't want to have to traipse (sp?) back to the DLH. I wanted the convenience of eating in the park. We had a blast and that includes the 3 adults! We went at 10:30 and the characters were all over the place the entire time we were there (at least 11:30). They spent alot of time at each table and kept coming back again and again. It wasn't crowded at all. I bet Tigger spent at least 1/2 an hour doing a "Tigger bounce parade" while about 8 kids followed him around and chased after him. The really neat thing is that we got several pictures of ALL of the characters together with just us!!! We were thrilled! Even the cast members kept saying how lucky we were to get all of them together in one spot for a picture! If knew how to post pictures I'd do it but alas I don't!!

P.S. The food was really good and very plentiful. The characters were the Fairy Godmother, Capt. Hook, Brer Fox, Chip & Dale, Minnie, Max, Terk, Tigger, Eyore, and the penguin from Toy Story (I think).

that was where we were, we were all but ignored by the characters. We had fun with Dale and Snow White was gracious but that was pretty much it.

We always chose Goofy's. The one inside the park looked a lot more packed and busy. I remember seeing people trying to rush in there because they saw the characters, and the CM's were having one heck of time trying to explain to them that they couldn't do that.

We always had good interaction at Goofy's. Usually always saw Goofy, Minnie, Donald, Pluto (all the favs besides Mickey). Along with many others. It's just gotten too expensive for us now though. Over a $100 for just the 3 of us. Maybe if my son was still small and believed.

Now, I'm in a quandary. I think my son would probably like Goofy's better, but I think Minnie's would be better for my friend's son and I think I'd like Minnie's better, lol. I know that no matter where I choose that my son will love it, he can't get enough of character meals. What to do.

And I'm still debating about what time to schedule the breakfast. I know that there's no way I'm getting the kids back into a restaurant later in the day to have cake, so I was considering ordering one and having it at breakfast. If I schedule a late breakfast and have it more like brunch and then have the cake that would make more sense. I'm not sure if I'll be able to pry the kids away from the rides to stop for the breakfast though, if it will just be better to have an early morning PS.

fyi, we went to Minnie's at 10:30, it was not crowded at all and we got a lot of interaction with the characters.

That's the nice thing - Minnies is right next to so many things (Buzz Lightyear ) that you don't have to go very far. You can ride before and right after and then have an early dinner and only pay for 2 meals instead of 3.

Never been to Goofy's, but I loved Minnies. I have a 3 year old daughter and she loved all the characters! We were there for over an hour and all the characters were back to back. My DD's favorite characters were Peter Pan and Captain Hook and they even took the time to pretend fight for her.
It was GREAT!!!

This is what I think I'm going to do. We're early risers, so I'm thinking we'll have a light breakfast in the hotel room, and then schedule the late breakfast at Minnies.

I definitely vote for Goofy's Kitchen.
My sons loved the interactive banging on pots and pans music they do every 30 mins.
Much more exciting than Minnie's.
Only negative is that it's at DLH, so if you'rein the park and then have to leave for your ressie it's a bummer.
We stayed at DLH in '06 and started our morning at Goofy's on a non EE day then headed to the park.
