Minnie van/Uber from DHS at park close?

Hi all!! We usually have a car with us, so haven't used these yet. What is it like trying to do this at DHS at park close??

My son and I tried to grab a taxi at park close at DHS over Memorial Weekend 2017. What a mess. All the bus areas were extra crowded and we couldn't even get to the area where the taxi's were.
I am not sure about where Uber picks up or even if it'll be as crowded when you go.

We used Minnie Van from several different parks/resorts and never waited more than 5 minutes from request. It was usually closer to 2 minutes. YMMV. Expensive but fast and easy.

Uber/lyft/taxi's, etc. pick up and drop off near the end of the bus area. As you exit DHS, take a right and then take a right again and walk along the area where the buses pick up. The taxi stand is at the very end. We got an uber there after park close last year and it was pretty quick and easy. We've never taken a Minnie Van to DHS, but when we went in August, we found being able to get a Minnie Van was a hit or miss. Sometimes they just weren't available. They may have increased their fleet at this point, however. When you open the lyft app, you'll see what's available. We never had problems finding regular lyft or uber, though.

Judging Minnie Van availability is a bit unpredictable.... the fleet isn't big enough to really be able to cover high demand times (like at a park event ending at night) and so your experience could vary greatly. You might open the app and see one showing 2 minutes away, or you might not see any available. Generally speaking you will have availability 9 times out of 10, but the peak volume times are going to get squirley.

On the other hand, Uber/Lyft availability is far more widespread - there are A LOT all over property, generally speaking. If it's an option for you (I know it's not for some given car seats), that would be Plan B if a Minnie Van isn't available.

The good thing is the apps make it so easy to quickly figure out what you should do and come up with a plan.

Just wanted to come back to say THANK YOU, especially to @baler31, @DisneyWishes14 and @GADisneyDad14!!!

We waited for about 10min after JBJB, then made our way to the taxi/guest drop-off/pickup area. Set up Uber once we got there and only waited 4min!! Back to the Contemporary in a flash. It was the perfect way to get back after a LONG day on this very short trip without a car.

Glad it worked out for you! Curious, did you even try to check Minnie Van availability at the time, or did you just go straight to trying Uber?

I opted to go straight to Uber. They are what I use at home so am familiar. I saw multiple Uber and regular Lyft cars in the area, but didn't see a Minnie Van while we were there. Granted, that was only the amount of time it took us to walk to that spot, and the 4min we spent waiting there!
