Minnie Van pricing structure change

I'm thinking Disney wouldn't do this if it weren't going to make them more money. So while some trips may go down, I think many will go up. Personally, I think $25 is quite hefty to start, so adding to that will make me less likely to use it.

If the price goes from $25 flat rate to $25 + mileage, which fares would go DOWN?

None, but that’s not the new pricing structure. New pricing structure is $15 + mileage. So, depending on mileage charge, some fares could go down.

I wish someone could find out how much the mileage charge is so people could plan trips within their budget.

I'm sure they will announce it well before it goes into effect. I plan to use mostly Disney transport, but for those times where I want a quick transfer, I'll be weighing prices of Uber/Lyft with Minnie Vans.

My main question is will it show the final price before you book the Minnie Van the way you know your Uber price before you book one through the ap.

Depends. Did you need a car seat? If yes, it wasn't. If no, it was.
I priced compared a bunch of routes around property, Minnie Van vs. UberXL + Car Seat. (closest apple to apple comparison there is)
Most rides were within $3 or so and several Minnie Van rides were cheaper. Add in a 2nd car seat option (not even possible with any other car service) and Minnie Van would always would out to be cheaper.
Of course, if you never need a car seat or an XL vehicle, then Minnie Van is frivolous for you and would always be more expensive than any other car service choice. If you really need the vehicle size that matches a Minnie Van, that changes things up a lot.

Thank you for the comparison. We don't need a car seat, so my sense that $25 is a lot is based on comparison to regular Uber/Lyft. For our upcoming trip, I had considered using one for the time/convenience factor of skipping the TTC when going to MK. Depending on the price, I may still splurge because even at $25 it was going to be a little luxury anyway.

It goes into effect tomorrow, according to their release schedule. If they're going to release the mileage rates, now is the time.
Milage rates for Lyft aren't a set rate, it depends on the time of day, popularity, etc. My guess is that Minnie Vans will become like Uber/Lyft where you're told the ride total when you plug in the pick-up and destination. It's not good for the people who want to plan in advance for how much routes will be on their trips. Maybe a thread where people post how much their trips are from Point A to Point B perhaps?

My bad, duh! I misread the base price.

Still, I can't imagine them lowering any of the prices. It may be $15 + mileage or $25, whichever is greater. As AngiTN has noted several times, $25 is NOT a bad price if you compare apples to apples -- that is XL to MinnieVan. If you're 4 or fewer riders and are okay with a regular car, X will always be somewhat less, but that's apples to oranges.

If it starts tomorrow, we'll know soon!

Lyft's standard mileage fare for XL in Orlando is $1.21 per mile. It wouldn't surprise me to see them use that rate, and that would make the cost of a MinnieVan about $9 more than XL per ride.

However, when I look at individual ride quotes on RideGuru, it looks like most onsite rides would cost less than $25 unless they use the $25 minimum fare model. I can't imagine them lowering their fares!

The article says $15 + mileage. It doesn’t mention $25 (or whichever is greater).

I can. They've had a lot of complaints that for the shorter rides it's too high. If they have evaluated things and found that they'll make more on the longer rides and less on the shorter rides and in the end, make more in total, then yeah, I can see them lowering fares on some rides. To make some guests happy

Then again, I can be wrong too, and they may not lower anything.

But there is no mention of a minimum of $25

This is a fair point. I'm one of those cheap people who was not seriously considering using them, except maybe as a one-off because $25 is too high for me if Uber is charging $10 for the same short trip. If a short trip is closer to the $15 mark, I'm more likely to use the service to hop between parks or get to RD at MK from an onsite hotel.

Uber might be charging $7-$10, but that's for X, which is not the same level of vehicle at the MinnieVan. MinnieVan compares with XL.

I'm the same as you; I might use MinnieVan just to check it off DD's bucket list, but I wouldn't use it all the time any more than I use XL all the time. And certainly $25 from OKW to Epcot is a pretty steep price. But you're paying for the cute.

Well I see the problem. If Disney is close to the competition they probably are not charging enough. They managed to charge Twice what their hotel rooms are worth. I’m sure they want to do the same for their car rides

And as for "paying for the cute". That was a big letdown. Just take a photo of one because all the "cute" ends at the door. Inside it was incredibly generic and boring.
