Minnie van prices just increased to $25.

It still an option for my family for MK and if at FW they provide direct service.

OK, I'm stopping fussing about it not being at all resorts. I'm sticking with regular Disney transportation and Lyft if needed.

Supply and demand. Demand has been greater than the supply so prices increase.

We used them a couple times in September. It was nice, but I have no qualms about using Uber and Lyft so I'll stick with those and save the additional money for Mickey Bars.

That's ridiculous.

As you said, still might be worth it to bypass the TTC at MK, but otherwise, it's a complete rip.

Last Monday, we used the Minnie Vans for the first time for a resort breakfast. It made the most sense since we had a 9am reservation. I didn’t want to go thru MK security with the park opening crowds.

Van picked us up at 8:30 am at Pop and arrived at the GF at 8:50 am. My son enjoyed the ride as the driver gave us a construction tour and spoke of his Disney career. Mind you it was my son’s actual birthday so this was a treat.

I won’t rule out using the Minnie Vans but I will think about where we’re headed and if taking them will be an advantage. Otherwise, I’m happy with Ubering around WDW.

You could easily use Lyft/Uber/cab for that for cheaper than the Minnie Vans.

You could also bypass the TTC by taking the bus.
Right, but the advantage of the Minnie Vans is not having to wait for a bus if it's running late.

Not surprised. The cost of $20, to include 2 car seats, was very close to the cost of an Uber with 1 car seat. In some cases, even cheaper if you got the equivalent sized vehicle.

It's never been a cost savings for anyone who doesn't need car seats to use it. Those guests (me included) use it because it's a Minnie designed vehicle and it's fun. It's a splurge. Upping the price does make one give a 2nd thought to ride just because it's fun.

or in our case, we are running late. We are forever cutting our times close. We can't afford the wait on a bus (unknown in many cases, even with a sign). It's much better to open the app and see the time for a car to arrive to where you are vs. walking to a bus stop and having a wait of unknown length, when you are already working with a tight time. This is why we use Uber often on property and Minnie Van when we want to splurge, or are going to MK

That makes Uber or Lyft an even better deal in comparison. Not very smart on Disney’s part. :rotfl:
If you've ever priced out UberXL+car seat (1 only) you'd see that it is not often the better deal, the Minnie Van is. And even when Uber is lower cost for the ride, it's very close to Minnie Van, and that's not counting the tip you'd add on to the Uber ride.

Lyft doesn't have a car seat option so it's not a comparison at all.

ETA - Pop to CR (for someone going to eat at CM, for example)
UberXL (same size vehicle as Minnie Van) + 1 car seat, $25.35, before tip

I'm thinking they did this because they are unwilling to upgrade their supply to keep up as much with demand as was needed at the $20 price point.

For guests who have no need for a car seat (and there are many), MV are a ripoff compared to Uber/Lyft.

Rip off? No. Cost effective? No. I used Minnie Van a few times and didn't feel "ripped off"
I knew what I was doing and did it because Minnie Van can go where Uber can't (MK bus stop)
But they aren't ripping anyone off, they make the cost known up front and then the buyer can make a choice.
It's been said by everyone that the only people saving money are those who need car seats.

And for the record, it's not the rip off you are claiming. XL without a car seat, from Pop to CR, $17 before tip. $20 was by no means a "rip off" in my mind. Not when $20 was including tip

Yep! It was already going to be a splurge if I had even been able to use it (I'm not at one of the resorts where you can get the code), but like I said above, this just cements that if I need a car, Lyft it shall be.

I used Minnie vans from BC last summer and loved it for convenience to MK. Don’t need a car seat anymore so for now except for MK, I will use uber or lyft. We tip regardless so that part is a moot point for us.

If you are tipping a Minnie Van driver don't use the app. They won't receive it. They are in a non tipped position and they are supposed to turn down tips but seeing how no one would really know when it's cash they don't always refuse. But like a CL CM, they are supposed to refuse tips

We used it last week. It was great. The vehicles are clean and the CM are great but the Lyft app is buggy compared to Uber. Both Minnie driver CMs we spoke to said it was the best job on property. One CM had been with Disney for 10 years the other over 20 years. Apparently they get paid regardless if they are driving or not. Plus they get tips.
