I will start by saying I am not sure if this is the correct spot for this, so if not feel free to move it.

DW loves buying new pairs of Minnie ears on each trip but they always seem to be a bit small and end up hurting her head (I do not think she has some massive head size either hahah). We have looked around but they seem to just come in one size. We have tried stretching them a bit but it doesn't seem to help (and I also don't want to break them). Any tips on how to make them more comfortable? Are we not noticing a different size option?

Cheers!

Have you considered buying ears from an Etsy shop instead? I have a variety of ears from different Etsy shops and for me, they are all far more comfortable than the official park ears. Most are better quality too (and far more options for designs/colours etc)

Yeah she has thought about that but I guess she was worried the quality was not as good. But if you think they usually are as good or even better maybe I will have her take a look again before the next trip. I will say though there is something to be said to buying them on the actual trip but I think she may want comfort over memories at this point.

The style with the velvet on the inside is a lot more comfortable out of the ones you can buy in the park. But the ones on etsy, some people make them with plastic headbands as the base and others use a padded headband as the base. I find the padded headbands to be more comfortable in general. Unfortunately, it is hard to tell on etsy which is being used. The wider the headband, the more comfortable, as a general rule. What she should probably do is trade her love of ears to a love of purses. The purses from the park NEVER hurt my head ;)

OMG @Nevada Jen ... the purses, so true.

I was crushed when the slinky dog headband didn't fit. I just knew it would end up painful although so cute and stylish.

Could your wife switch to "Ears" instead, or purses?

Yes, I got the velvet style ones and they were extremely comfortable. I could tell right away when I put the other kinds on that I wouldn't be able to wear them.

In my experience, quality has never been an issue - some of these small shops put a lot of time and effort into crafting these ears and it shows. That said, I would choose a shop with a lot of sales and good reviews. The reviews may also help determine which shops have the most comfortable headbands (I know comfort is subjective but it's better than buying totally blind).

You didn't miss anything, there aren't different size options. I also have multiple pairs of ears bought in the parks. Some are more comfortable than others. The most uncomfortable pair is the first pair I bought - black ears with the red polka dot bow. They are very tight and I end up having to take them off multiple times a day to give my head a break. I bought some black ears with a plaid bow this past Christmas and those were not tight at all. I think trying them on before buying them might give us an idea of the comfort level, at least this will be my strategy going forward.

I have found different ones really fit different. My rose gold ones are small. My purple ones are not. Keep trying and see what is comfy.

I get terrible headaches from my two minnie ears. I think they are just made small because one of them I was given from my stepdaughter because it was hurting her head and she was only 8.

I have the same problem - the headbands pinch my head on the sides behind my ears and it hurts too much to wear them. And I have a really small head! (I wear kids size glasses and hats lol). I'm also going to vote for trying Etsy. There are so many customization options in a lot of really cute designs!

You can stretch them - I will stretch them by putting them over a few books. Leave it for a few days and they will be bigger. The other thing I've done is buy the headbands from Michaels. then you can cut a small whole in the Disney ears and and replace the headband. I did this with my plane Minnie ears - now they are really comfortable.
As a poster noted above the headbands that are velvet or regular fabric seem to be the most comfortable.
