So I was talking to my son, who will be celebrating his 9th birthday at Disneyland in May. We usually do Goofy's Kitchen breakfast, and I asked if him if that's where he'd like his "birthday Character meal" to be at. He asked me if they had a Mickey's Kitchen! Unfortunately no! LOL But I told him they do have Minnie and Friends in the park. He says he'd like to go there.

I've never done a Character meal in the park. Is there any differences to there then the hotel character meals? Is it a lot more crazy (crowded) because of it being in the park? Is it also good the have a reservation? How is the Character interaction? Food good? Any tips is most welcome! :goodvibes

We haven't done Minnie's yet, but I have heard positive things about it. I would definately schedule a ressie for any character meal. I have heard there is good character interaction at Minnie's. I am excited to go there on our next trip! We did Ariel's last time and our girls just loved all of the princesses and getting their autographs/photos taken with them, but it was very rushed the day we went. I know there are lots of people on this board who have been who can give you a better description of Minnie's . . .
have fun:)

You definitely need a reservation. To me the biggest plus of this one is that it is inside the park which can be very convenient. Depending on when you are going, a later breakfast is nice because then you can still enjoy some rides when its not crowded and then have breakfast. Last summer for example the park opened at 7:00 for EE, we did that and did breakfast about 9:00. I think this one often feels more hectic, its not as big of a space as Goofy's or the Lilo and Stitch one so the food lines can get very long. The last two times I have been there it was absolutely crazy and it took awhile for the characters to come around. But the kids had fun so thats what counts I guess. It doesn't have quite as much selection but the food is good although not as good as what we have had at the others. They have scrambled eggs, made to order omelettes, potatoes, biscuits and gravy, fruit, danish, muffins, croissants, french toast and Mickey waffles, cereal and probably some things I am forgetting! Its not a buffet in that the hot stuff is served to you (like a cafeteria) and the cold stuff and waffles are serve yourself. You can sit either inside or outside. They do have a nice variety of characters, sort of like Goofy's. The last time we there it was: Minnie, Fairy Godmother, Tigger, Pooh, Captain Hook and either Chip or Dale.

They don't have the dancing and games they have at Goofy's or Lilo and Stitch so if your son likes that alot just be aware.

We PREFER Minnie and Friends over Goofy's Kitchen. We had a lot more interaction with the characters. We have had bad experiences at GK and will not be back. The food was great and lots of characters walking around. Our last visit we had Minnie, Pooh, Eyeore, Peter Pan, Captn Hook, Wendy, Chip, Dale and Tigger. I enjoyed being "in" the park for the meal too.

We did Minnies in November. Great character interaction. My girls loved seeing so many different characters. Off the top of my head we had Minnie, Pluto, Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, Chip N Dale, Penguin from Mary Poppins. Captain Hook and a couple others. Plus the food was great as well.
