Minnesotan’s Disney Expedition 2006
Day 2 – Awake for the sake of Caffeine and Adrenaline!
Check My other Trip reports for this trip to get the specifics. If you can’t find them on the boards you can get them and another trip on my website http://www.geocities.com/picturedisney anyways on with the story!

After getting in so late we had actually planned to set our wake up call at 6:00am but compromised at 6:30am (I made a typo in Day 1). It was really early but we all wanted to get right to it. By 6:50 we were all (miracle upon miracle) up, ready, and at the bus stop. Unfortunately since we arrived so late we didn’t take note of the bus stops near by our building and walked all the way back to the main building.

Our first park of the day was out of tradition for Sara and I, we began at Magic Kingdom rather than Epcot where we usually begin. Here’s where our first scheduling snafu happened. We had planned to do Adventureland before park opening but only Fanstasyland and Tomorrowland were open. Instead we rode Space Mountain twice then went into Fantasyland to get most of the rides there. We then planned to get the 10:00 showing of Hall of Presidents. In all of our trips to WDW, and there have been a lot, we have never managed to get to see that show. Well that tradition held. We were about 2 minutes too late. Instead we park hopped over to Epcot.

In Epcot we did most of Future World with Lunch at the Land. (Another long time tradition – even though they remodeled it) With fast passes we were able to ride Sorin’ with only about a 15 minute wait which was way better than the 70 minute wait last year (no fast passes) While in Epcot we also had out Disney Visa Picture taken . This was really awesome as since there was no one in line behind us we had an entire photo shoot! They took 21 photos and put them all on our photo pass card. I guess it really paid to go to that later in the day.

When we had finished Future World, we the hopped back to the Magic Kingdom for an early dinner at Crystal Palace. I had eaten there last year but it was new for everyone else. This was also one of two character meals we had planned. This was also where we had run into our first ADR problem. We arrived at the time our TA gave us and they couldn’t find us. We ran though every name it might be under and nada. Then they said Disney’s dining computers had been acting up and assigning times on it’s own. When they tried to add us in like walkups the system said I was already in the system. They then discovered someone else had checked in as me! Talk about weird, I have never had that happen and how many groups of 5 adults are there roaming WDW. 2 Adults and 3 kids sure but 5 adults? Anyways, they got us in right away and we ate our fill on the dining plan.

We then went back to the Coronado to change into our Halloween costumes. This was WAY more fun than we had expected. Through out the day I had been wearing a shirt that proclaimed Anoka Minnesota as Halloween Capitol of the world. (I work near anoka and had to wear one to the MNSSHP). I was pretty bummed that I only had one person comment on it so I wondered how our costumes were going to go. The three of us girls had all bought prom jewelry and wedding tiaras off e-bay then wore skirts and nicer t-shirts as modern princesses. The two guys along with us were convinced to dress all in black and wear ear pieces like in the movies. Walking back to the bus stop we couldn’t stop laughing about how good this all looked!

When we arrived at the MK bus stop we just happened to get off the bus so the three of us girls were between the two guys and a little girl about 5 or so asked to see if we were real princesses. It was too cute. All night long people were asking the guys questions thinking that they were Disney Security! The funny thing was Lucas had only been to WDW once before and this was Ben’s first trip so neither of them knew how to answer most of the questions. They did politely explain that they were security for the princesses, not WDW and people were happy with that.

During the party I was able to get my digital recordings of the fireworks, parade and villan show. I also shot a video of the entire fireworks show, lost my pedometer, and all of us missed trick or treating entirely and only got to ride a few rides before we discovered the park was closed. Despite all of our planning we had kind of flopped on that one. We still had fun and it was worth the ticket price but we were walking out kind of bummed. Then a CM asked us why our treat bags were empty. We said we had been doing so much other stuff we never got a chance to go anywhere. He then took all 5 of our bags, went into City hall, and came back a few minutes later with them all full of candy. It was so cool!

By this time we had finished half of epcot and about a ¼ of Magic Kingdom all on about 4 hours of sleep. Amazingly enough we really didn’t have any huge meltdowns at each other, only one minor one which was solved by one really tired member heading abck to sleep earlier than the rest of us. When the last four of us stumbled back to the resort at 1:30am we just about fell asleep in our costumes! We were SO tired but again scheduled Mickey to call us early, this time 7:15am

Coming Soon – Day three! ( I promise, we do get more than 4 hours of sleep occasionally on this trip)
