Minnesotan’s Birthday Adventure
Pre Trip Report

Well call us crazy, we booked our trip today (mid June) for my Birthday in mid August. It took a while as we were waiting for a tax return to arrive and all the required bills be paid before we shelled out several hundred dollars for a trip but everything worked out and as per tradition, I am writing our pre trip the day we finally book. Before we begin though, a little plug. This and (at the moment a few) past trip reports and photos are on my newly renovated (or renovating as it isn’t finished yet) website: www.geocities.com/picturedisney On with the story!

Who: Me, Amanda and my best friend Sara. We’ve been hanging out together for about 8 years now and nearly every one of those years has included a trip to WDW. Our goal is to stay at every resort on Disney property. After all these trips, we have made quite the list or resorts stayed at. For good or bad though, Disney keeps building more, oh well more trips for us to plan!

What: A birthday trip to WDW. This will be our 7th trip together, my 9th trip and Sara’s 7th trip. Each of us have celebrated our birthdays in WDW once, this will be my second time.

When: We’ll be on property for 5 days 4 nights in mid-august. Currently everyday we’re there we have planned to wake up at 6:00 am EST and commando style tour all four parks and mini-golf until at least midnight each day. Yes we’re crazy. It’s going to be hot, it’s going to be humid but as 5 of our 7 trips together have been between the months of June to August, we kinda got that part of central Florida down. Hailing from Minnesota, where as I am writing this it is 94 degrees outside with a 80% humidity making it feel like 99 degrees according to the local weather station, helps too.

Where: We’ll be staying at the All Star Music Resort the length of our stay. I have stayed at this resort before but as Sara has not, I conceded and agreed to stay there again. We also are a little shorter on cash this year so as this was one of two value resort we had not yet both stayed at it was an easier choice.

Why: Because we can. Yes we could probably put it all in savings and have no fun but as we both have money in the savings account for things like tuition and rent and still have some money to play with… WDW here we come. Besides, you can’t take it with you. For all you scrooges out there, my entire higher education (6 years completed now) has been paid for entirely by me and I have no, I repeat no, debt at all attending the most expensive state college system in the country, gotta love MNSCU!

Our plans: Run crazy through the parks trying to do our favorites and everything new since we were there last time in 5 days. We’ll be arriving at the resort about 2:00 pm, checking in and then running right to the parks. We plan to do all the extra magic hours and the Pirate and Princess Party in the Magic Kingdom to fit in even more. 5 days later we will get to play in the parks until the magic express comes to take up back to reality on flights that leave for Minnesota and Colorado between 6-7:00 pm. Yes you read that right, Minnesota and Colorado. You see we’re planning this trip from two different states (again) only this time it is easier as it is just the two of us. It should be fun though, meeting in the Orlando Airport not only for our Disney trip but to actually see each other for the first time since February. It is a good thing we get along and travel together well or this daunting schedule would kill us, if not the schedule, each other. After 7 trips together though, we know how to make everyone happy, do everything we want, and have a great vacation. After our 2006 trip we decided this year would be sans family and boyfriends as that was not our best trip ever.

Well, that’s about it for now. Tune in again in August (probably) for the rest of the story yet to be written!
