Just got back from a fabulous weekend trip to see Prairie Home Companion at the Fitz in St Paul. Minnesota nice is not just a myth. The people were wonderful; the history is amazing (Where I live they just tear down and start over); there is so much culture. I can't wait to return.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful cities with me.

:goodvibes

Glad you enjoyed yourself. Come back soon--especially in the summer when we can show off our lakes :thumbsup2.

My DH has been there on business and tells me the people there are the nicest he has ever come across.

I am here now and love it. Was at the Mall of America yesterday. It was crazy but fun. He usually takes me during the week when its quite. But not on Tuesday for toddler Tuesdays.. :lmao:
I travel here a couple times a yr, since my dbf lives here.. :goodvibes

If someone has a suggestion on a something romantic or fun to do here. I would love to surprise him.

He doesn't find the trip to Albertville to the coach outlet fun.. :lmao:

Do you mean something along the lines of a nice place to eat or a romatic stroll in the snow around one of the lakes? If you haven't been to Stillwater yet, that might be a good one. Have a nice meal at the Lowell Inn then off to walk along the river?

thanks will look into that..
He took me downtown Minneapolis for a Greek dinner in an old train station.

OP- You are so welcome!! Minneapolis has everything but not 20million people! You can actually get around the city easily with lightrail or public transit. A nice hotel room is less than 100.00 and a fabulous dinner for two would be about the same. Hundreds of fine dining places and unique sites. THe sculpture garden at the Walker Art Center is cool, especially in the spring. Chanhassen Dinner Theatre is neat and the Science Museum is awesome!! Spread the word!! We love tourists.

Went to school there and it was the most positive experience of my life. :goodvibes Although, I've heard Garrison Keillor is not a nice person at all.

I can't speak for your source, but he was super nice to the little old lady in front of me who kissed him and pinched his cheek and to me, the blubbering idiot who prattled on and on. :confused3

I go to the mall a lot. We love the rainforest cafe. I know I want to move to parts non snowey, but I would def miss minneapolis.

Well, I've never been to Minnesota and probably never will, but I did attend my local theater's presentation of a Prairie Home Companion Live in HD on Feb. 4th.

I love Garrison Keillor on the show and for his columns and books. Don't know if he's nice or not. But he did talk up St. Paul during the pre-show. Not enough to make me visit in the winter, but maybe summers are nicer. :)

Summers are great in MN-warm temps (80's and 90's) beautiful lakes and rivers, tons of things to do.

I went out to Minneapolis on business once and I agree with the OP, the people from that area were very down to Earth and friendly. The area was beautiful, too. We went to tour a playground equipment factory out in one of the suburbs so I got to see a little bit of the countryside outside of Minneapolis. One evening we went into Minneapolis and walked around and had a bite to eat. I really liked it out there.
