We reserved an SUV through
Budget for our Christmas trip. At the time we booked it, mini vans were the same price as the mid-size SUV. When we got to the Fastbreak window to pick up the vehicle, they offered us our choice of an SUV
or a minivan (even though we had booked the SUV). While we did take the SUV, we saw lots of Caravans there in the aisles. I am sure you could request a particular model when you pick up the vehicle with no problems.
Just a word of warning......our vehicle, a Ford Edge, was a real disappointment. Not only was it high mileage for a rental (almost 80,000 miles) it had been visably abused. On top of the exterior condition, I can guarantee you someone had smoked it in at one point, and there was some sort of air freshener or cleaner over top of the cigarette smell which was equally as horrible (we smelled it when we picked up the vehicle, but hoped that it would dissipate as the windows were rolled down and the truck was aired out....but it didn't). Whatever else had been inside that vehicle gave our DS a horrible allergic reaction (breathing issues)
every single time we got inside that truck, bad enough we had to put him on allergy medication after a couple of days in Orlando.
We have always used
Alamo before this rental and were able to select our vehicle from whatever they had available in the class we reserved. We have Budget booked again for our August trip (grudgingly, and only because its currently the only minivan rental that's even half way affordable) but let me tell you, I will be inspecting that vehicle with a fine toothed comb before leaving the garage and won't hesitate to ask the Fastbreak agent for a newer, low-mileage, never-smoked-in vehicle. Once bitten, twice shy.
