Minivans at National

For those of you who have rented minivans at National, can you tell me what they carry? The website gives the Pontiac Montana as an example. Is this the only model offered?

We are traveling with 6 people and the luggage associated with 6 people. Do they carry any extended minivans like the Grand Caravan?

We rented a minivan from National last December. It was a brand new Grand Caravan.

On December 28, I saw a couple Pontiac Montanas and a Buick Rendevous on the minivan aisle (I tried to get the National rep that was walking around to let us take the Rendevous instead of the Park Avenue [luxury car] but he wouldn't let us).

We rented a minvan twice on our last trip (December 2001) - picked up one at the airport for the beginning of our trip (at VB)and then picked up one at the CCC for the end of the WDW portion of the trip. Both times, we were given a Chevy ASTRO. I was glad because I don't think all our luggage would have fit into anything else. My DH & I had only one small bag each plus I had one tote/purse, but we were traveling with my brother's family. They have two small boys and the baby needed a car seat and stroller plus my SIL must have taken every piece of clothing they owned, LOL! Anyway, the minivan was actually was a bit crowded for the six of us and all that STUFF! We had a great time, though.

The Astro is "boxy" looking, but it wasn't too bad to drive and as I said, it did hold all of our luggage. My brother and DH are good packers/loaders - no wasted space in our van!

The Pontiac Montana comes in an extended length version, very much like the Grand Caravan. In fact, I have yet to see the short wheelbase minivans of any kind on the National Lot. Dollar carries a lot of Chrysler/Dodge minivans and used to only have the extended versions as well. However, on our last trip, they have begun to charge extra for the extended Grand Caravans.. Just a heads up.. National tends to feature GM Products so You may see the Montana, Chevy Venture or maybe even a Silhouette. Like another poster mentioned they do have some Chrylser products too, once in a while.

Last year we got the Oldsmobile Silhouette on the Minivan Aisle. It was spacious enough for all our luggage and six passengers. I did see a Grand Caravan also on the Aisle.
