Minivan in July...when do you start to book

We are going from July 16th till the 26th. There will be 6 of us. When do you start looking for deals on rental cars. Do you book now and keep changing, etc. Who has the best deals on mini vans.

We always book it as soon as we know the dates and we keep calling back about once a week (more often as we get closer) to see if the rate has gone down.

We usually call several companies and go with the best rate, then keep calling them back. You can also do it on each company's website.

I usually book as soon as I find a rate that I can live with. I then keep checking for drops in rates. I usually end up cancelling and rebooking about 2 or 3 times.

Since there is no penalty for cancelling, I'd book as soon as you know your dates. Then keep checking and if the rates go down, make a new reservation and cancel the old one. I booked a minivan through Alamo for our dates in March a couple weeks ago. $681 for 14 days. Then I saw a post here that rates had gone down, so I checked and rebooked at $610. Orbitz is a great site to compare rates from all the rental companies. And the DIS is the best place to find out when rates with different contract ID's or coupon codes go down.
