Is it still a minimum of 100 points if you want to purchase an add on at BLT?
Just wondering? Well, plotting and planning really. Don't tell DH!
:goodvibes

No, you can add on with as little as 25. If you want to finance, it is a minimum of 50. And, if you want any of the incentives (ie: $5.00 off discount, cruise or developer points), it is a minimum of 100.

However, I have heard that people were able to get the 100 points in smaller contracts and still get the incentives.

And....your secret is safe with me!!!!

Wait did this change again? I thought that recently if a member wanted to add on points at BLT it was no less than 100 points allowed. All other resorts are no less than 25 points and no less than 50 to finance. I remember this being a big deal a few months ago and many here were adding on small contracts to beat the deadline of the change to 100 point minimums.(for BLT and I think AKV was with that too.)

I'll do a search for a thread that mentions this from a few months ago.

Add-ons have been lowered back to 25 point minimum at BLT.

Changed around Feb 16, first reported in thread by WilsonFlyer) so it's back to 25 point minimum for add-on at BLT when paying cash ( 50 pt min if financed). Of course no telling how long this will stay in effect

:)

Man, I wish this would last til Oct. We are staying at BLT 10/20-23 and I think I could convince DH to do a 25 pt add on once he's been there but he's dead set against it right now. Here's hopping pixiedust:

Oh thank you so much for this info! Wow, I think a 50 point add on at BLT is in order! You know I got the info in the mail about the increase and an email too. I never got any info from DVC about it being lowered again! It doesn't say it anywhere on the DVC site(no surprise there). Still you would think they would advertise this better.:confused3

At this point, there is no reason to believe that the newest change (back to 25) is not permanent.

Why? I wouldn't expect them to advertise it at all. We already know how they feel about add-ons < 100 points and probably less than 160. We learned this when they tried the experiment at BLT and moved the minimum to 100. They obviously wanted to stop selling <100 points.

It appears they have succombed to pressure from the membership to return all to the way it was before. I'm sure their attitude has become "If someone wants to know, they'll call and find out when they call." Most people that call have resigned themselves to 100+ add-ons at BLT. I doubt the guides are telling them any differently unless they ask point-blank. Welcome to time-share selling. :)

I called my guide on Thursday, I am not a member yet, still working on that. Anyway, I asked him if you could still buy in at 100 points at AKL or SSR? He said that he didn't know. I also asked if the cruise or developer points were still available and if there was still the $6.25 per point incentive? He again, said he didn't know, and in fact asked where I was getting my info. I told him that I have been doing my homework on the disboards! He said he would call me back with whatever deals they have.

Sometimes, I don't think that the guides are even really current on all the incentives! He also sounded disgusted that I only wanted 100 points to start!

So does anyone know how much a 25pt add on would cost in total? Anyone done one and is willing to tell exactly how much it cost with closing costs? I own at OKW and with our potential BLT we would bank and borrow to have 75pts every 3 years to do a studio stay there for however many days we could.

DH wants a figure which could mean he's caving :woohoo: !! TIA

There are no closing costs on an add-on direct from Disney, so the total cost should be 25*112=2800.

I confirmed with my guide on Saturday that you can still get 100 points for AKL as a new member. The only incentive, however, is the $6.25 dicount. If you want the cruise or the developer points, you must at add with at least 160. He said that the deal with end on the 28th of March--not sure if he meant that the 100 point buy in, the discount, or both were going away, but the incentives will be changing.
