Minimum Point Purchase?

Hi folks - I have a friend who is thinking about buying (aside from the fact that I have been working on her, she is taking 1-2 trips per year already, so it's time for her to do the math).

Anyway, what is the current minimum point purchase for new members (NOT add-ons)?

We just bought direct thru DVC 100 points at AKV. I know usually brand new members have to buy a minimum of 160 points, but DVC was offering 100 point min. for AKV and I believe SSR; BLT still has 160 point min. I'm not sure what the min. is for the other resorts that DVC is not currently marketing (i.e OKW, BCV, BWV, VWL...), but sounds like the PP was able to buy 100 point min at OKW. Not sure how long the 100 point min will be offered directly thru Disney.
Obviously, the other option is buying a resale contract because these contracts have a range of points I've seen usually as low as 50 and going up from there. Buying direct just worked best for us for our 1st purchase.

Seriously, your friend should compare the cost between buying resale and DVC direct. Most of the time it is cheaper by far to buy resale. However, since Disney does incentives you might get as good a deal buying direct. Buying direct is a much faster process as you do not have to go through ROFR which can add as much as 30 days to the processing time.

It is my understanding that right now you can buy in at 100 points to any of the older "sold out" resorts. I bought in this week at VWL for 100 points. If you can pay cash resale is a great deal but if you need to finance and go through Disney then you can get in at several resorts right now for just 100 points instead and also with no closing costs!!

Does anyone know if as a new member, there are any incentives to buy into BCV and can you do it for only 100 points? And has any new member had any luck getting Disney to drop BLT min. to 100 pts for new member purchase?
