We are staying at WL later this week and have requested a bunk bed room. Does anyone know what is the minimum age that Disney recommends for sleeping on the top bunk? My youngest son is 6 and he really wants to sleep up there some of the nights.

Thanks!

the recommended age is 6+ yrs, so he should be fine. Maybe call to see if there are side rails (or perhaps someone here knows).

Thanks for the quick reply!

There are rails all the way around except in front of the ladder. DS9 slept up there two years ago when he was 7 and it looked very safe. I think the only way a child could fall out is if they became disoriented. DS6 hasn't had rails on his bed for years, so I think he'll be fine up there. Ourlaughingplace.com has a lot of photos of WL and one is of the bunk beds if anyone wants to see what they look like. There is even a little plaque on the bed (probably stating a recommended age), but I can't read it in the photo!

We are considering staying at the WL - but toggling between the POR/FQ or Carib bch. What made you decide to stay here - Help!

We've never stayed at POR/FQ, but friends of ours really liked it a lot. We love the theming of WL. We like the feel staying in the lodge, rather than a seperate building. We all like the bunk beds because DS6 is a bed hog, and DS9 complains really loud about it. I thought DS9 was overreacting until last month when DH was on a business trip, and DS6 had a nightmare and I let him sleep in my bed with me for the rest of the night. Now I understand!

We've stayed at Poly, FW Cabins, WL, and the Swan. We also like the concierge level, and it is less expensive at WL. We really enjoy the free breakfast (they serve what we would normally buy at the snack bar anyhow), and it's really nice to start the day without having to wait in line.

Are the rooms with Bunk Beds more expensive than the standard 2Q beds?
Free Breakfast - is that standard? Thanks -

We just returned from the WL today. We had our 5 yr old on the top bunk and our 3 yr. old on the bottom. The kids loved the bunks. It was probably there favorite part of the trip. We had the best room! If anyone is looking for a great courtyard room ask for first floor. We had room 2121. It was a little noisy at night but it quieted down around 9:30. We never had to take an elevator.

Do you think it was worth the $$? Did you ever think a moderate would have been better for you? Just curios - I am fighting that descision rright now - Wild. Lodg or Port Orleans .......... Any and all feed abck is greatly appreciated! Descisions, descisions, descisions....

The bunk bed rooms are the same price. We got a good price for our room $169.00 per night. I really loved the lodge. The pool was nice and it had a nice waterslide which my daughter loved. The cm's were so kind and helpful and we felt very comfortable there. One of my favotite things about our stay was being able to see the ewp everynight. I am a huge dork! I would watch it everynight and I really loved it. I just stepped onto the patio and I could see and hear it perfectly. The WL is small and I like that too. Every time I walked in I was amazed by it's beauty. I have heard that the POR was a nice resort. I do not have any regrets staying at the WL. The rooms were simple and clean and it felt like home to me.

My DDs will be 1 month shy of 4 and 2 months shy of 7 when we go to WDW in Sep. We have requested a bunkbed room at AKL. Our plan is to swap out DDs if we get it. From what I can tell on the pictures, there are rails all the way around except for the ladder. I will make a judement call when I see the room as to whether or not DD2 gets to sleep on the top bunk.

Taratink is right, bunk bed rooms are the same price as regular rooms. I think you can only requrest bunk beds though, not guaranteed.

Breakfast is free on the concierge level. We cannot justify the cost based on the free breakfast and snacks. But for us, it's worth it to make the trip more relaxing. If DH and my sons are ready in the morning before I am, they can walk down the hall and get started on breakfast. In the evening, it's nice to have a nightcap and relax.

We stayed at Animal Kingdom lodge and even though I booked a standard room for $99, we were first happy to find out we were upgraded to Savannah view and then when we walked in we saw that we had bunkbeds. My older daughter was 4 at the time and she slept up there and I had no worry about it. There were nice rails all the way around except the ladder at the end but the bed was so big and she doesn't budge in her sleep, I had no worry about it.
