Help! I am trying to pre-order a mini wedding cake for me and my DH for our first anniversary. We have dinner reservations at Ohana. It is a super special night because we got engaged in Ohana too. I was just told from the GF bakery that they can not deliver the cake to Ohanas. This can't be true because I know I have read other posts stating that they had...maybe those CM's were willing to go above and beyond but the lady I spoke with was not too nice. She said she only delivered wedding cakes...maybe I am too sensitive...is my anniversary any less important? Anyhow...sorry to vent. Is there anyone who knows another bakery on Disney property or any ideas to help? It will just be the 2 of us so there is NO WAY I can get away to bring it to the restaurant. HELP! Please let me know, thanks so very very much!

Lisa, when we had our anniversary mini-cake delivered to the Polynesian, the concierge (we were staying concierge/club level) had to go pick it up from the GF Bakery themselves. Is there anyway you could ride the monorail over to the GF Bakery to pick up the cake, then ride back to ‘Ohana for dinner?

Yes I could do that but I really wanted it to be a surprise. Theres no one I can pay to do this for me? If I could get away I would do it in a heartbeat...but I just wanted to see the look on my DH's face when he saw it. Theres still 69 more days to go until we are there...I am sure I will figure out something! Thanks for your input though. I really do appreciate it! :-) :wave2:

The Grand bakery is the only place you can order the mini wedding cakes. No other bakery produces these. Because they are so fragile, they are not an easy item to transport. In the past, the Polynesian has picked up mini cakes from the Grand, but you would need to pre-arrange this. Try the group dining office at the Polynesian to see if they can help.

When we stayed at the Boardwalk we were able to order the mini wedding cakes from the Boardwalk bakery. Apparently the baker is originally from the Grand Floridian, so I guess that would make it easier for them.

Try calling the Poly's bakery and find out if they can make something similar even if it's not the exact same. Then you wouldn't have to worry about delivery.

As far as I know, the Poly does not have a bakery. The cakes that they get for their intimate weddings come from the GF bakery.

Which resort are you staying at? Maybe you could go pick up your cake at GF and take it to the Poly ahead of time. That way your DH will still be surprised when they bring it out! Good Luck!

Posted this on another thread but it would still apply here too so copying over...
Called today 8/10/05 - According to my conversation with a CM today!!!

Okay, so I finally got a CM that gave me/found some information. I was told that yes this could be accomodated and that they need at least 48 hours prior to event/time you want the cake. You need to contact the food court at your resort and they should be able to make the arrangements for you. If you are looking to do this at a particular restaurant you would need to contact that restaurant. This works for me as we will get there 10/3 and I need the cake for 5 days later so I just plan on ordering when I check in. I will post back how this works out/if this works out when we return. If anyone does this prior pls. post so we all know the answer. Cost approx 25.00 and up depending on what you choose.
