In the Lyft app, it will let you see which mv is avail at that time. Down load app and start looking and practicing.

it seems like after I put in starting point and destination it wants me to confirm pickup, so how can I prctice seeing what cars are available

It's ok to press "Confirm pickup", you're not actually requesting a ride at that point. The next screen will show you the available cars and the prices.
