I have been debating on whether or not to rent a mini-van. 4 adults and 2 DS 2 & 4 with a double stroller.

I got a price quote from Dollar for $250 for 8 days for a mini-van. They are so much cheaper than any other company.

What kind of experiences have you had with Dollar?
Why are they cheaper?

With 6 people I think you will be more comfortable with a minivan. I've rented from Dollar before and they were great :). I've had no problems with them. Why are they cheaper? Maybe they have more vans to sell :). BTW, did you try any of the Dollar codes? You can usually get a van for about $199 in Orlando.

We used Dollar and they charged an extra $5.00 for my spouse where Budget didn't. But other than that, we had no problems with them. They are located at the airport and there was virtually no wait to get the paperwork completed.

If anyone has a better code than FVG for 8 days, please let me know. That gets us a minivan for 209.99 for a week and 39.99 for the additional day.

Thanks!

I tried the KISS code and it came back with $249.99/wk and $39.99/extra day.

I have rented from Dollar about 5 times in the last year and think they give excellent service. They do have Plymouth/Dodge mini-vans - the ones that have doors that open on both sides in the back. We have been pleased with FASTLANE service - you do go to the counter at MCO but FASTLANE gives you front of the line service and then you are quickly on your way! I think I actually like Dollar better than National - especially when I know I want the minivan!

I have rented a minivan from Dollar the past five (six?) times we have gone to Disney. I've never had a problem. I just put myself on the van and I drive it all the time so we don't have to pay the extra $5 a day for my husband.

Ironically, with one of the mousesavers codes, a van from Avis came out cheaper this year when we arrive the day after Thanksgiving. So, this is the first time I won't be using Dollar and I'm nervous since I have received such great service! (And Avis was substantially cheaper or I would have stayed with Dollar.)

You can try all the codes.....look up mousesavers rental car page and when you call just keep asking which of the codes listed is the best deal. Also, sometimes no code is needed...the rates are usually best the furthest time out. Good luck!

We tried dollar rental cars without the codes, and they were much cheaper...

Regular economy car $16.99/day, and with codes FVG and KISS, was $24.99 a day...

Be careful! Dollar does not add in the taxes and fees on the quote you get on the website (some rental places do). The information is on the website, you just have to figure it up yourself. I did do my Sept ressie thru Dollar since they still had the best price, but you don't want to be suprised at the last minute with a extra $100 or so.

Wehad a minivan from Dollar in 97 and were not satisfied: The car was dirty inside, on of the fro nt tyres constantly lost air due to a dent in the wheel and the rear benches couldn' be moved because the bolted the release handles to prevent theft. Since then we have only used Hertz, they may cost the odd buck extra, but are worth it.

We rented a minivan for 10 days in May from Dollar - used the KISS code and got the $209 rate. Service was quick (didn't use FastLane) and we had no problems with the vehicle. It was a Dodge Grand Caravan (just like the one sitting in my garage :) ) and we were very pleased. We would definitely rent from Dollar again.

As for the rate codes, it must depend on rental dates - or maybe availability. Using KISS gave us the lowest rate for our dates, but others have used FVG or no code at all and have gotten great rates, too.

We always rent from Dollar, they seem to be the cheapest with the minivans.

The best reason for going with the Dodge/Plymouth vans------built in car seats! You will need them with the 2 yr old at least and I use them for my 4 yr. old. No dragging our car seats from home, no paying extra to rent them.

I would go with Dollar.

We have found Dollar to be the best price for a weekly rental on a minivan. We also have never had a problem with Dollar.

lynaaron - no, you do not need a coupon with the FVG code. :)

I put a Mini van on hold with Dollar then called them to see how much more it would be with the FVG code in November I got a price of 209.99 and 39.99 x 2 for the 2 extra days. When I called Dollar they said that price did not include all the extra taxes which totaled $75.00. Just wanted to let you know that your quote on the Internet is not what it is.
