All our recent rain coupled with warm temperatures have caused tiny toads to hatch out. They are everywhere. There are literally thousands of them just in my neighborhood. I just went to let the dog out and saw about 20 of them on the walk. They are super small. One of them is about the size of a dime.

They are actually pretty cute, but they make walking outside a hazard. Trying not to step on them is tricky. Sadly, I'm going to need to mow my lawn later today. I hope they can go deep. :scared1:

According to local news, they are all over the Orlando area.

Hey, it could be worst . . . I ran over a BIG frog on a motercycle once - almost dropped it.

Orlando, eh? I will check with my fam in St. Cloud.

It sounds like an uprising over the removal of their ride at MK. Toads unite! :thumbsup2

I'm thinking soup.

Ewwwwww!

I wonder how bad they are in the parks. I'll have to run over to MK and check it out. If I hear people complaining, I'll just tell them that the toads are part of a protest group wanting Mr. Toad's Wild Ride back! :goodvibes

Awwwwwww-- I love toads!

When I was about 3, my Dad told me I had to kiss a lot of frogs to find my prince so I'd run around catching them and actually kissing them to see if they were my Prince Charming.

My mom would almost go into cardiac arrest every time.

:goodvibes

I am just near Downtown Disney and I saw one the other day, I couldn't quite believe how small it was, just so cute!

LOL!! That is one of my clearest memories of WDW as a child! Those midafternoon rains would come in and I remember those little frogs would come out. My brother and I ran around chasing tons of them.

Peg, should we even mention the snakes? :rolleyes1

(I nearly ran over one in the road the other day. Someone else got him tho.)

Isn't that one of the signs of the apocalyse? Massive amounts of toads invade Walt Disney World?

When my DH was very young he saw a toad hopping around the front yard, and he ran to his mom to tell her about the "jumping kaka" he saw.

Our DD13's name is Jennifer, and we've morphed her name into Jumpin' (thanks to my 2YO nephew learning to say her name), and sometimes we expand it to Jumpin' Kaka. She answers to it! :thumbsup2

We have a lot of them here as well. My DGD loves them. We went to my sister's and she is surrounded by meadow, Kady ran around with a bucket, caught about twenty and then paraded them around to show everyone :scared:

Oh, yes! I just finished mowing the yard. A large black racer slithered across the sidewalk from one set of bushes to another. Then, I saw a small brown snake along one side of my house. I'm not sure what it was. It was small. It could have been a young black racer, but I wasn't going to get close enough to check.

I also saw four sandcranes while I was working outside. Beautiful!

You've got to love the Florida wildlife!

Wasn't that one of the 7 plagues of Egypt? Seen anyone that looked like Moses walking around your neighborhood?

Anyway, yech. Little froggies are cute, but if you have to worry about the "squish" every time you walk out the door......wouldn't make me a happy camper.

Good luck!!!

:scared1: OMG! I'm kind of glad I don't live in Florida! One of my collegues used to live there and she always describes the huge bugs and other crawly things she used to see everyday. I live in a big city in California. Such wildlife does not thrive here. We have squirrels running along the fence everyday and my boys say there's a lizard living in our backyard (I will stay far away from that corner of the yard). Yes, I'm a wimp when it comes to creepy things. I prefer to stay inside and play with my bunnies! Kudos to you brave souls who live amongst reptiles and amphibians! :worship:

Ya, but they do not climb up your legs like when you have to stand in a yard full of 17 locusts...

Mikeeeee

We get mini frogs here too. They are wee, tiny things just morphed from tadpoles. They are smaller than my pinkie fingernail. They give me the willies! Our whole yard will be "jumping". Blech!
