DISers - give me your thoughts on WDW's mini-golf courses... Fantasia Gardens or Winter Summerland! We're thinking of doing this on our arrival day because we're arriving after a long day of travel and our park tickets are inactive until the following day! Which would be the course of your choice and why would you choose it???

I choose Winterland Summerland because it is very easy to get to. Just take the Blizzard Beach bus and get off at Blizzard Beach itself. The mini-golf courses are right there!

I say Winter Summerland, but I haven't been to Fantasia so I can't really compare them. It is very easy to get to. When do you plan on going? Just keep in mind there are only busses there until the waterpark closes. We went one evening and had to take a cab back to our resort.

We love the mini golf at DW. Fantasia is easy to get to if you just go to mgm and take the boat to the swan, it is within walking distance. For Christmas holidays I would choose the Christmasy winterland ones. Be prepared for surprises on the courses!

As you have a small one traveling with you I would do the Wintersummerland

Fantasia can be challenging at best.

I'm kind of surprised that winter-summerland won out for better mini-golf. I thought there was no "Disney" theming to it at all. I guess it depends on what you are looking for. I liked the fantasia course better for great fun theming. Yes the other part of that course the fantasia fairways can be challenging but the fantasia mini-golf course is fun and easy. Sorry my vote is for the original fantasia course. :thumbsup2

We've talked about going during the late afternoon/early evening that we get in, a Thursday in November... We'll arrive around 4:00 in Orlando - then having to check-in, etc..., there might not be much time left for mini-golf! It's just a thought! Also, will Winter Summerland be closed for refurbishment because Blizzard Beach is also closed then?

If BB is closed, will the mini golf there still be open??

Sorry, see the person before me just asked that

We love Fantasia Garden but only a short walk from Beach Club for us.

I pick Winter / Summerland - And I also rather the Summer course. It may not be "Disney" themed - but I enjoy it so much more than Fantasia. And also, your going in November is so close to Christmas - It will really get you in the Christmas mood with all the Christmas music playing.

We have done Winter Summerland. My kids loved it so much we did it twice! It was quite entertaining and colorful. We were going to also try FG, but we ran into a CM who swayed us to go to WS by letting us know that for kids, he thought it was the better of the two.

Thanks for asking that. I'd be interested in the answer too as we're also planning to go there in early November and I totally forgot that with BB closed, that will affect our plans. I guess, even if WS is open, there won't be any buses running?? I hadn't even thought of that! Looks like we'll head to Fantasia instead but I was looking forward to seeing the Christmassy 'decor'.

By the way, have you see the info and pics at Allearsnet? Click here for Fantasia Gardens and here for Winter Summerland.

I hadn't checked out these sites before! Now I really want to do Winter Summerland - I'm searching for more info on whether it's open when BB is closed... I'll post back if I find any news!

Also chose Fantasia Gardens due to the proximity to the EPCOT resorts. It was an easy walk for us from the Yacht Club

Great! :thumbsup2 I really want to do Winter Summerland too but as we're staying for part of our trip at the Boardwalk it makes sense to do the other one. I'm guessing a taxi both ways from BW to WS would cost a pretty penny. Then again, we're just about squeezing in a trip to Blizzard Beach on 26th Oct a few days before they close - maybe I'll also squeeze in golf that day. It's a hell of a lot of squeezing in though as we're doing AK that morning. Back to the drawing board!

Oh, another question for anyone who's been to either place (WS or FG), what's it like on a winter's evening? I'm guessing the place is lit up (sorry if that sounds totally moronic :lmao: ). Is it a bit dreary though, in the dark?

I voted for Winter Summerland. We like it to do the Winter side since we never get to see snow. Its the closest we can get to the real thing. :rotfl:

We do both Fantasia and Winter-Summerland every time we go for a week long trip. DH and I like Fantasia better. We like the feeling of that course and it seems to always be less crowded. DS prefers Winter-Summerland. He likes the music and the themes! It is really cheerful and fun! We've done Winter-Summerland when Blizzard Beach is closed. We normally drive there, but the buses do still run to BB even when it's closed.

I voted for Winter-Summerland because it has the 2 courses (winter & summer) and when DH and I played there the second round of golf (if played the same day) was 1/2 price. So we played summer and then played winter right away for 1/2 price.
