I have a Samsung Mini DV that i've had for a few years but honestly never really used a whole lot. I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good program for transfering my recordings to a file on my laptop that'll play in Media Player, Quicktime, ect.? The program that came with the camera is horrible and makes choppy bad quality video that looks nothing like the playback quality I get on the camcorder when I watch it on the view screen. I have several hours of video from our honeymoon at WDW that I'd love to backup to disc for safekeeping. A free program I can download would be great but I can afford to spend a lil if it's a really good one.

Thanks,
Devin

Do you not have Windows Movie Maker on your computer? It works great for me. I have a Sony DV tape camera which is great for editing. If you have Windows Vista you should have a great copy of movie maker on it.

Thanks for the tips. I still have XP on my computer but I think my dad has vista on his, I'll have to check and see, maybe he has movie maker :)

Are you using a firewire (iee1394) port on your laptop?

If you are and you have a slow computer, you may be dropping frames.

Also with a slow laptop you could be having playback issues with a perfectly good file.
