Hi,
This question is for anyone who has been second in the hotseat (as a result of points total, not the first question). Do you wait until the light comes on & then hit the button or keep pressing the button until it registers? I've gotten all the questions right on a number of occasions but have never been higher than #3 on the points board. Is anyone willing to spill the seceret?

Thanks-
Donna

I've gotten into the hotseat by pressing repeatedly before the light comes on and continuing until the answer registers. Your problem must be with your speed if you are getting the answers right. Good luck! It's a thrilling (and mouth-drying) experience to get into the H.S.

Yep...I did it by just keep on hitting the button till it registers...
Don't wait till all the choices are given....
If you know right away it is "A" then start hitting the "A" .

One of the best experiences I've ever had!!!!!
It was so much FUN!!
And we only went in that time to escape getting drenched by a quick storm that popped up.
We had already played once that day and were headed back to TOT when the storm hit! So we ran in to Millionaire.

I got up to 32000 pts and love my pins and polo shirt! :goodvibes

Yes - as soon as I know the answer I start hitting the button fast and repeatedly. Another tip that can make the different of a few tenths of a second (which is what usually separates the top few on the board) is if answers A-C are incorrect - start hitting D even before the answer is read. Like I said, it's only a few tenths of a second but it can make the difference.

I've made it into the seat 3 times (as the 2nd person of the show) and that's out of only about 15 or so times at the attraction since it's opened so my record is pretty good (of course I was also top of the list 3 additional times when the show ended which always kills me!)

That's what I did.... held my finger over the button as soon as the right answer came up. I also got lucky to get a weird question that few people got right. Good luck! :teacher:

Yeah, I've gotten in the hot seat once, and it was during my trip last summer.

Basically it's like a lot of people have already said: Keep mashing the correct answer even before it lights up. I got in the hot seat, and then my sister in-law did two days later. We're both avid video game players, so the experience of pressing a button really fast is one we've been practicing for years, you could say.

If you're planning a trip soon, I'd practice on a video game controller, or go out and buy a cheap one, and just practice hitting the button as fast as you can. That's the key to getting in...you have to get all the questions right, and basically hit the button immediately after the lights come on. So, you need to have the right answer ready before the answers light up. It's tough, but not impossible, especially if there aren't a ton of people in the audience.

Good luck!

I made it to #2 by using the techniques posted here :cool1: ...then I missed a baseball question and got knocked off the board! I was so sad but there will be another time! I must win cruise! :goodvibes

Does anyone remember how long the grace period is between getting on the show and when you can do it again? If I make a possible trip in July, it will be a year since I've been on it, so I'd imagine I'd be good to go, but I can't remember.

As others have said, you need to to have chosen your answer BEFORE the "D" answer it revealed, and then start mashing the appropriate number as fast as you can. If you aren't sure of A, B, or C, then just guess "D" and start pressing it before D is revealed.

If you are wrong, you can forget getting in the hot seat, but if you take your time, you will never make it, even if you are always right.

I've used this technique to get in the hot seat 2 times (out of about 10 shows I've been to). The other 8 times were approximately even with being in the top 4 or 5 vs. missing a question and being off the list entirely.

One side effect of this technique, if you do get in the hot seat, is that if you have good hearing you can use this as a sort of free "ask the audience". If you keep a sharp ear out for when the majority of the audience starts mashing their buttons, you can get a feel for whether they think it is A, B, C or D.

I believe it's 30 days.

Ladies, beware. Much as it's exciting to get to a high point level, you get a men's cap and a men's polo shirt!
