Milk on flights?

Hi all,

Well we are off next Fri (can't wait!!!) and just wanted to know if Virgin will let me have milk for my littles boys bottle, or should I take some with me?

We are staying overnight at Gatwick, so will have some milk in the room for the night and morning bottles, but he still has a bottle at 10.30am then 2.30pm then around 6pm.

Just waiting for our e-ticket to arrive and we are all set to go

Are you talking about baby milk? If so, US authorities didn't use to let you bring it in. A few years back they made us throw away powered milk when we landed! Brilliant with a 4 month old!!!
The situation may be different now... If you only want it for the trip, I'd take some with you just to be certain.

We took a couple of the ready made up cartons just to pour into a bottle for the flight. We had packed a box of the powder to make up & as it was unopened didn't have a problem taking it. We did put it in our hand luggage though as we weren't sure what the authorities might suspect it was if they saw a load of powder in the case!!

Do you mean formula or normal cows milk???

I took formula last year (some sachets, some cartons). We were stopped by Dept. Of Agriculture (the ones that confiscate food) and they didnt have a problem. They checked the Heinz Baby food tins I had as well and allowed all of them, though he told me if I had ones that contained meat, he would have had to take those.

If you mean cows milk, the airlines tend to only use those tiny little individual pots for teas and coffee. What I would suggest is buying several small cartons(the Organic milk that comes with McDonalds Happy Meals these days is a perfect size) and taking a cool bag with you. The airlines are usually OK with putting them in the fridge once on board. Dont forget to allow extra in case you are delayed / diverted / or one spills or breaks.

thanks for replies - ment to say it is cows milk - think I will get some little bottles like at McDonalds to keep us know as they are easy to carry.
