I know this may seem silly to others but I am wondering how much a small carton of milk is in the morning at POP? Were trying to cut food cost as much as we can so we will be eating breakfast in the room....but im not trying to figure out all this to see if we really need a fridge or if running to the food court in the am is good enough or should I just get a styrafoam (sp?) cooler and store a few things in there for the week? Would that type of cooler last a week?

TIA.....I know this is a budget question but i thought i would check becuase i am specifically asking about the POP.

As long a you refill the cooler with ice everyday at least once it will keep the milk colder than a fridge. You may want to take a large garbage bag to put inside the cooler. Ours leaked on the carpet. You can pick up the cooler at Goodings for a few dollars. You would be better off getting your milk there also. Hope this helps.

Last time we went, after thinking it through with the milk, we switched to instant oatmeal It worked great for us and it meant we did not have to worry about a fridge, we also did PB&J for lunch. I did the little packs, like you get at restaurants, of Peanut butter and jelly so they did not need to be refridged. And then of course lots of snacks :)popcorn::

Milk in gerneral is very expensive in florida stores...then ad the disney surcharge and you are paying 6-7$ a gallon.

I know that milk in the mods and above are cheaper in the gift shop. I'm not sure if they sell milk in the gift shops at the values.

All great tips!!! Thank you. I was just going to have garden grocers deliver one with my grocerys....im getting a lot but not alot of fridge stuff. Im coming from Washigton and we are not renting a car....is there anywhere close by we can shop at or is delivery our best option? Someone else suggested putting the ice in ziploc bags which I think would be great so my thigs dont get the melting ice water. Also was told to put in tub while gone in case it leaks.

Thanks again....weve been saving and planning for two years so I just want everythign to go great and be no stress when we are down there. Might as well do the work now which I enjoy anyways and have fun there!!!

I think avoiding running to the food court in the morning will be less stressful. I always feed my kids breakfast in the room, no matter where we've stayed. That way you can stagger early showers and getting ready while they eat a bit.

Parmalat milk, while more expensive, is good since it doesn't need to all be refrigerated (so if you're staying for a long time, just chill a couple of quarts at a time). When we did a grocery stop at Publix from the airport in 2006, they had the little pint size milks (like Parmalat but some store brand) on sale a 3 pack for about $1.50. I bought a bunch of those for my friend's kids - they chill quickly and come with an attached straw like a juice box.

I'd try the garden grocer if you're using ME. Look for the little milks by Parmalat - they may be a good option, and I'm sure not only cheaper than the food court, but more convenient. Maybe garden grocer has coolers? Or you could bring a collapsible one? I'd personally do styrofoam though over that though. We always get a fridge, as DS has food allergies and I have to keep soy milk cold for him. They don't charge us in that case.

You might check the Budget Board to see if there are any refrigerator swaps going on during the time you're at POP. We've done fridge swaps the 3 times we stayed at POP and it was great. That way you don't have to do the ice thing, etc. Just an idea. And, yes, milk is expensive in Florida.
