My DH is in the National Guard. He left last July, '02 to go with his unit to Bosnia. Our newborn was only 2.5 months old. We also had/have a 6 and 3 year old. Anyway, he came home this year in early April.

On Monday we received a call that he needed to be ready to leave for Kosovo in two weeks. We were in a panic, started to make plans for babysitters, daycare, part-time for me AND deciding what to do about our Disney trip in December. Last nite we told his parents that he was deploying again.

Today we get a phone call that he doesn't have to go. I'm so glad he gets to stay home, but I wish they'd make up their minds. Now we're just waiting for the next phone call that says he has to go again!

I feel like I'm riding an Emotional Roller Coaster!!!

Thanks for letting me vent!

Hugs for you Mommy Poppins!!! I can totally understand your frustration. Hopefully you can get back to a normal life soon.

I also have a friend that her DH is in Guards full time. He was deployed in January to Puerto Rico and gets to come home for 5 days on Sat and is then being sent to the desert somewhere.

She has two small children and it is very hard for them to adjust when he leaves and also when he comes home. I don't know how you all deal with the constant changes. My DH and I try to help her out as much as we can.

Melinda

Hugs to your friend as well! My DH isn't even full-time National Guard, but they still keep messing around.

Oh my goodness! I would have been seriously freaking out, especially with only two weeks notice. I'm glad that your dh doesn't have to go and I agree that the military should have all their ducks in a row before they start calling people with that kind of news.
It would take me weeks to settle down and quit expecting a third call so you definitely have my sympathy.

{{{{HUGS}}}} to you Mommy Poppins!

I can totally sympathize. DH and I are both in the ANG (he is full time and I am part time) with 2 small ones at home. Post Sep 11th, DH was deployed for 3 1/2 months 4 weeks after DD was born. Not a fun time for me.

Best of luck and I hope everything works out well.

{{{HUGS}}} to ALL of our military wives. DD Holly (sydally9367) is an Army wife and so I know she rides on that same emotional roller coaster you all do. It's definitely not an easy life and I admire you all.

Thanks all for your kind thoughts and hugs!

The emotional roller coaster is the worst part.

I feel your pain. DH is full time Army NG. Though he hasn't been deployed, most of his friends & co-workers have been...all to different places since they belong to different units.

I've cancelled THREE vacation plans I TRIED to make this year...because they keep sending him to other states on short notice (about 3 days to 2wks notice). He gets home....then finds out he needs to go somewhere else. I've cancelled out of just about all family functions we committed too for July & Aug since the ANG will have him. :(

{{{Hugs}}} for you! It is difficult being a military spouse.. especially during these uncertain times. Most civilians do not realize the importance of reservists... I know I was once among them. I have learned that "week-end warriors" provide a huge service to this country.

God Bless and keep your family safe.

As USAF retirees, we understand the system - and when a man or woman choses to take the military as a career or a position with the ANG or Reserves, they accept the consequences of the position.

It isn't an easy life for either the military member or his/her family, but it's one that has been chosen and the rewards are worth it.

God bless you and yours,

Rae
