I know that the military sponsor or spouse can buy up to six of these special tickets. But what happens when you start your visit to the parks? Does the sponsor or spouse have to be with you each time u go to the park? Interested to know how we are going to work this logistically with all of us potentially going in different directions. All comments greatly appreciated.

No, the member or spouse does not need to be with you each time you go to the park. The member, or spouse, only needs to be there to activate the tickets. After that, it's do what you will. Many people have a military family member that will go to WDW, pick up the tickets and activate them, then give them to a family member for later use.

Also, the military member themselves does not have to buy or activate the tickets, as long as the spouse does. There always seems to be confusion there. Out of all of those trips below, only once has my husband come with me, and we've used the military tickets and the military room only discount every single time.

My mother-in-law is the military member for our family. She is the widowed spouse of a retired military member. She buys five tickets for our family, and none for herself. She has attempted to buy them without us being present and has been turned down. We activate them when she is with us at a ticket counter, then she goes on her merry way. We go to the parks without her having to be there once they are activated.

Also, remember that the water parks and more options (if you add that) have four entrances as well. We use our four park entrances on one trip (usually January), then come back in March and use our four water park/Disney Quest passes for a whole different trip. You have until September to use all of your entrances. They do not expire and do not have to be used all at once.

Have a great trip!

So if the military member buys the tickets, say at Shades of Green resort, then they are activated there too? What if you purchase the tickets at your local ITT on base? Are they activated there or at WDW?

Since this topic has been brought up again I have a question also. My niece has a child with a man in the Navy. They never married but the child has a military ID. Could the tickets be purchased thur the child's id?

nope, the father would have to buy them and then be there when they were activated

nope only place can be activated at Disney , either at guest relations in DTD, or at any park

No, ticket purchase can only be made by Military member or spouse (or widow), not any other dependent.

Anywhere you buy the tickets, whether on base or at Shades of Green, you have to take them to a WDW ticket booth and activate them. They aren't active, you can't use them, until you do that. In order to activate you have to speak to a CM at the booth, show your ID, and give the names, birthdays, and addresses of every member of your party.

No. Armed Forces Salute tickets are only for purchase by the military member OR the military spouse. No other dependents qualify.

at WDW. SoG cannot activate them and you only get vouchers that must be exchanged at ITT offices.

no. only a spouse or the servicemember ID can be used to activate any tickets.

This thread is helping me so much! DS and I are leaving in a week for WDW. Hubby is currently in Quatar, but I have my military ID and his deployment papers to show if needed. We are planning to go to SOG on Sunday night, buy the tickets, and then have them activated at Magic Kingdom (I guess). We don't plan on using the tickets until Monday morning. Will that work? We are staying offsite, if that matters. BTW, do they get activated at Magic Kingdom? :lmao: I'm kinda clueless.

Activate them at the Ticket and Transportation Center.

You can activate them at ANY guest relations office, including Downtown Disney. The people whose tickets the military member is activating do NOT have to be present at the time of activation. I just activated tickets for my sister, niece and two grand-nephews at Disney last month. We're all going together in August, but they're coming in before we get there, so she'll have the tickets when she gets there.

We've been using these tickets ever since they first came out and the amount of misinformation generated about them is always amazing. Things have changed from time to time over the years and sometimes CMs don't understand them well enough either. You have to know the rules and insist on speaking to a supervisor if you get a CM who doesn't understand that they can be activated without the actives there. You do, however, need their names, birthdates and address and the names are written on the tickets in permanent marker.

My son-in-law purchased the Salute tickets for me at the base ITT. My daughter sent me a photo of the back of the voucher and I used the numbers to link the ticket to my magic band. When we arrived at WDW we went to Guest Relations at DTD where my daughter was able to use her military ID to activate my tickets. My son-in-law did not join us until a week into our trip.

This was a different procedure than we have used before because we are eligible for the Salute tickets, but it was easier to let son-in-law get them this trip.

any guest relations booth. I know we would get directed to the ones that are kinda off sides and not actual ticket booths that have huge lines. We lan on getting ours activated at DTD this time come September the day we arrive( we never do the parks the first Day)

Make sure your husband goes to the market in town and buys you gold before he leaves Qatar. it's great quality and CHEAP. I wear my earrings daily.

Really? He hasn't even left the base….said it is a pain in the butt to do the paperwork to go off base. I'll have to tell him he must go! :drive:

Sounds like a good plan. You can activate the tickets before actually using them, meaning you can go to any park, DTD, TTC and wait in line on any day before you need them. We always do this so that we don't spend time in line on the day we are going into the park. We buy and activate them on Saturday night at the back entrance to Epcot (no line), and then have dinner at Beaches and Cream. Next morning we are ready to go!

You won't have much of a line at any ticket counter on Sunday night. Previous poster was right in saying just go to TTC rather than taking the ferry to MK after coming from Shades of Green. You will save tax from purchasing there. TTC is the closest place to there to activate. Maybe walk over to the Poly after and get a Dole Whip if Captain Hooks is still open (closes for rehab March 29).

No worries about staying on or offsite. It does not matter with the tickets.

Have a great trip with your son! We leave in one week also. So looking forward to the sunshine.

Thank you- that is exactly what I needed to know! I made reservations at Boma for Sunday night, so I figure we will get the tickets, eat dinner, then walk around DTD for a bit. I'll get them activated then.
We can't wait as well! My son is 13 and is a true daddy's boy. He is always miserable during these deployments, but is looking forward to this trip. It will take his mind off things (and he gets to see that mom is pretty cool, too!) :cool1:
