Hi everyone!

My brother in law is active air force stationed in LA. 10 family members (including my family) are visiting over Christmas break and we are all planning to visit DL for 3 days, 1/2-1/4.

We were originally thinking we could purchase the military salute tickets, but now realize my BIL can only purchase 6 of those plus Jan 2nd is blacked out.

There are also the regularly discounted 3 day hoppers that I believe are $174 or so. Does anyone know if there is a limit to the number of those he can purchase and also, if there are blackout dates? Oh, and he will be with us while visiting so he will be ale to present his ID in case that question comes up.

I don't believe there is a limit to how many regular military tickets you can buy, but they don't have blackout dates.

I 've purchased regular military tickets many times. No limit and no block out dates. They don 't have magic morning though.

Can you tell me how the regular military discount tickets work? I looked all over the web site and found nothing (maybe I missed it) I know about the military salute, but can you get 3 or 4 day discounted military tickets for a retired military? Is there a limit on those (we have 7 in our party)

Also, do you get them at the ticket booths?

Thanks

They are sold at ITT and LT Services on military bases. They are not sold at the ticket booths. Just go to your nearest base's MWR website, and you can download or request a pricelist, depending on the particular base. They sell up to 5-day hoppers as well as annual passes at some. Some sell 1 park per day up to 5 , some do not. Some bases vary in price, but no more than a few $$. Our local base was selling 5 day hoppers for $217 for adults , another base 40 miles away sold them for $206. That is the biggest difference I 've seen, and was worth it to drive there. It doesn't matter what branch of base it is.

We got 8 salute tickets for our trip last May. What happen is we needed 7 tickets so I told my husband to buy 6 salute tickets and 1 child regular ticket since we had one under 9. They sold us 7 tickets and gave us a letter for each one to use. Then a few weeks later one more person in my family said they would join us so he went back to buy him a ticket and they sold him one more salute ticket. Then a few hours later called us to say we cant buy any more but that one would be ok. So I know there are times you can get more than 6. When we was at the gate he had to show ID card. Then our third day we all had to show some sort of ID (ie to prove we was person written on the ticket, we all had drivers licence except the kids and they didnt need anything) to get into the park. Lucky I had my drivers licence with that day. Oh that was at the base near our home in Arizona.

Does the service member have to active "regular" military tix?
If so I guess I don't see the point of having two different options, simply a cheaper price but blackouts
Is that he only difference?

I think the main difference is that the Salute tickets are a special offer with a limited operating time (though it keeps getting extended), while the regular military discount tickets are offered year round. So, when the Salute promotion ends, the military discount tickets you can purchase at ITT will still be available.

Another difference is length. The Salute tickets are only available as 3 day hoppers, where as the military discount is on all tickets (1 day 1 park, hoppers for 1-5 days, etc).

I would just add that there is no limit on the amount you buy.

I don't see a price list on Shades of Green's website, just info on the Salute tickets, so you might have to call to get their pricelist. Here is a link to ITT at Camp Pendleton for example. Just download the pricelist, which is one of the most extensive I've seen, Disney World info is at the bottom. It seems that the Regular DisneyLAND tickets have a much deeper discount than the DisneyWorld ones. (salute info is there as well) Now this price list is just an example prices and offerings can vary a little from base to base, but it should be pretty close.

Here is a link to a site that focuses on miltary Disney discounts, primarily DisneyWorld, not much info on Disneyland.

Very big thanks to the people on this thread. Called our local MWR office and got 4-Day park hoppers for $210 each. Since we have 7 in our party and the cost at the park was going to be $275 each, we saved $455! That will almost pay for two dinners at Blue Bayou! ;)

Nope. We used the "regular" military tickets many times. No ID necessary (except when buying the tickets on base). I think this was mentioned above in the thread, but the military ticktets do not come with Magic Morning.

The last time we were at DL is September. We had to show ID several times. My husband also had to show military ID the first time through the turstyles exchanging our copypaper tickets for the regular park tickets.

For the regular military ticket, does the military member or spouse need to be present?
We didn't buy salute tix because my brother in law is deployed and my sister in law can't confirm 100% she can go yet
Let's say we play it safe and get regular tix and she can't go, is it cool or does she need to be there?

I can't say for sure, but I think she would have to be there. I would have your sister-in-law contact her MWR for restrictions.

I heard there is change coming with the salute tickets. Some poeple have been asked ofID and others have not. Disney wants to cut down on the "improper" use of the ticket. They were meant to have the service member at the gates when they enter the parks.

Now is "mandatory" for service member to be at the gates. No exception. We will how this works.

This is what I was told regarding the Salute tickets when I bought them at the parks two weeks ago... that the new rule is the service member (or spouse) that bought the tickets must be present all three days. I am NOT certain about the regular, non-Salute tickets.
