Thanks everyone for the feedback. To answer some questions:
1) He could go and not ride anything, but we'll be driving from Texas over two days, so if they decide he can't handle the parks, I'm not sure he'll want to make the drive. He does love car trips though, so we'll see.
2) My mom does have the dependent ID, but she definitely won't make the trip without him (nor would we have room for her in our car if he doesn't go - and she doesn't drive so she can't take a second car).
3) He ordered our tickets directly through Shades of Green, via fax. He and my mom have the Armed Forces Salute tickets (though they only plan to use 3 of the 4 days), and he purchased six 7 -day MYW tickets for my family. This is definitely approved through SoG; we've done it in previous years and we spoke with them this year before he sent in the order form. I have a season pass, so I didn't need a ticket.
4) We do have the actual hard tickets, not vouchers.
The SoG tickets are about $30 less per ticket, so I'm hopeful that we could just pay the (approx.) $180 difference once we got there, if it comes to that. Of course, ideally he would be recovered enough that this won't be an issue. He loves traveling and he's been looking forward to this trip for months, so I know he'll do everything he can to go, but I would love to be able to assure him that the rest of us will be able to handle the ticket situation without him so he doesn't push himself to go if he really doesn't feel up to it.
Again, I really appreciate all of the responses. I lurk a lot but don't usually have questions, but I knew that this was the place to ask. I'll also check out disneymilitarytips.com. Thanks for that suggestion!
