Military Ticket Upgrades?

My dh works on an AFB and I have been helping some of his coworkers book their disneyland trips, my question is about the Disney's Armed Forces Salute tickets. Does anyone know if these can be upgraded to a 4 or 5 day park hopper and what the cost might be?

I have heard that if you upgrade these tickets, you must pay the difference from what the military price was, to what the actual price of the new ticket is. So ... no real savings there.

Sure you can, but you will pay the full difference between the price of the AP and the tickets you purchased.

I priced it out and it is actually cheaper to get Military discounted 5 day park hoppers than upgrading.
