thinking ahead for next year when DH and I will take my daughter and grandson to WDW (my Son in law will be training and his participation is iffy). He is a Marine and she can get us military tickets. We went to DL with these in 2015 and it was really a deal. My question: is this something she can get more than 60 days out and have the ticket number, so I can log on and get FPs?
My grandson will be between 2 1/2 and almost 3 (we will go in March or June; he turns 3 in August 2019) but he is already 34" so I am thinking he can do a couple of rides, and we can child swap the rest of the good ones. The main reason to FP will be any characters we don't schedule meals for. But since DL doesn't have FPs, I don't know how this will work, and she's not really sure either and in the middle of planning a move.

You can get the military tickets at any time but they do expire at the end of the year. So if you are wanting to go in 2019, you will need to wait until the 2019 tickets are being sold.

When does that happen, later 2018 or not until next January 1? If we go in March it will be the second week, about March 10-16, because that is my school break, so I'd need ticket numbers by roughly January 10. I'm starting to think late June is the way to go anyhow.

If you are wanting the military salute tickets, the announcement came out last year in late September, I think. So, it's usually in plenty of time to get them ordered prior to your trip. No guarantee year to year that they will renew, but they have been renewing it annually for so many years now, I'm not sure it's likely they will stop, but you never know until the announcement comes out.

I follow this website http://www.militarydisneytips.com/ to get the most current information. He always posts as soon as the new offer is announced.

The base ITT that we have bought from in the past have always had the new year tickets in January.

Agree with the PP poster the base I work on gets their tickets in January for that year. I always buy thought the ITT office, I find it most convenient!

Once the announcement is made, you SHOULD be able to order them from Shades of Green. You'll just need to be sure you make it very clear that you want the next year's tickets, so they send you the correct ones. It's very easy to order them from Shades, but they do charge a $10 shipping fee.

Does it matter that we will not be staying there? I think she was going to get them on base like she did in 2015 when she lived in San Diego. I will be using DVC points to stay in a DVC resort.

Doesn't matter. I've ordered from them twice and not ever stayed there. If she can get them on post, it will save you the $10 shipping, but I think you'll be able to get them sooner from SoG.

If she can order them from her ITT office, that's fine, or she can order through Shades of Green. I've done both. The difference is that if you get them from ITT, they will be vouchers that will have to be activated; if you get them from SoG, they will already be activated for you (you have to send a copy of the military ID to get them). BUT, even if they are vouchers, you can still add them to your MDE account and make your 60-day FP+ reservations. I did that for our trip last year. I did encounter a problem with the phone scan feature not recognizing the barcode, but I was able to manually type in the voucher number and add them to each member of my family. We did have to activate the tickets on at the first park.

Hope this helps!
