Military Ticket question

So my dd's best friend is coming with us to DL this summer. We are so excited bc it is her very 1st time. Her dad, who is active duty military, is buying her one of those special $99 Military 3 day park hopper tickets and she is 11 so she has her own military ID w/ picture so I am assuming we should be able to use the ticket issue, is this correct?

Also, we may do an additional 1-2 days at the parks and I am pretty sure we cannot add days to these tickets but, could her dad buy her a 2nd 3 day $99 ticket? This would still be cheaper than buying her a 1 or 2 day park hopper giving the new pricing. Thanks so much for any help. My dh used to be military so I have used these kinds of tickets before, without him present and had no issues but I wanted to check since it has been awhile.

Hmmmm. Thinking about this. As the "military member", my dad was able to purchase these $99 tickets. But one of them HAD TO BE FOR HIMSELF. He has bought these tickets twice (6 each time), and each time he bought them, one had to be for him. (I believe a spouse had the same opportunity.) Here is the official Disney language on that: "One (1) of the Disney 3-Day Military Promotional Tickets purchased on each occasion must be for use by the Eligible Service Member or spouse." Which makes me question if your friend could purchase just one ticket for his daughter. In our case they put names on the tickets at the time of purchase (not sure if that happens for everybody). And they checked my dad's military ID when we went into the gates. My dad was able to purchase a ticket for me, but I have never had a military ID before. I had to show my driver's license to prove I matched the name on the ticket. Hopefully someone comes along with better info, or you could call Disneyland. I know that your friend could purchase a regularly discounted ticket on base for her to use without having to show any ID. And he could buy her one for more than 3-days, since you might stay longer. Here is a link to Disneyland's offical info regaring the $99 tickets (Be sure to read all the fine print.) I hope you are able to work something out, and have a wonderful time!

The PP is absolutely correct. She will have no problem using the ticket as she has her own military ID, but one of the rules is that the military member (OR the military member's spouse) must buy at least one of the tickets for their self, so while he would be able to buy two separate 3-day park hoppers, he would also have to buy at least one for himself.

Thank you so much for the replies! I will check and see what he wants to do in that case as he will not be able to go with us. Might be better to just get her a 5 day hopper with the old ticket pricing via ARES travel and a few other places. I appreciate the information and just want to give him the cheapest option.

Was there End of March start of April... with my husband, son friend and her two nieces..

One of the nieces is 11 and her father is retired Coast Guard...
she was not only able to buy her own ticket , but ours as well (6 / 3-day park hoppers at $99.) at the ticket counter no one questioned us about whether her father was with us or not.. and we never had any trouble going through the gates..
We were told that she could buy up to 12 tickets, but only use 6 at one time..

It does state in the web site that it must be the personal or spouse.. but we called and was told that she would be able to buy the tickets and not have him there.. also seeing that they can buy that many tickets I dont see why she couldnt buy your tickets also...

You did this at the DL ticket booth? That would be great if that is the case! We all actually have annual passes so we don't need tickets but I would love it if she could use the 2 3 day tickets for herself as that gives us 6 days and we could go on the evening we arrive for a few hours.

Did the niece have her own military ID?

ok, I am here now....well actually I left the park an hour ago:rotfl:...i am on day 2 of the 3 day pass and I just want to tell you my experience..when my nephew bought my ticket, they asked for my name and thats it...didnt ask for his ID or my ID or nothing...then we went straight through to the turnstyle and at NO time did they ask for either one of our ID's ...however, I think it may have just been the timing and how busy it was or something because I would be surprised if every CM did that...its always been stated that you have to show military ID to activate and it just didnt happen for us but guarantee it will happen to someone else...so i would plan on having to do it but if you dont have to then....:confused3
