Can someone give me any information about military discounts to Disney? The group going has an active military member going.


How big is the discount?
How do you go about purchasing them?
Is there a minimum number of days you have to purchase?
Can you link them to an MDE?

How big is the discount? 35% off room only at Disney Resorts. Shades of Green is based on eligibility, our group was 126/night. Bonus is there is no tax at SOG
How do you go about purchasing them? Military tickets can be purchased at the gates of any Disney park, the price for 4 day PH Military Salute this year is 196. Again, if you buy thru SOG, there is no tax. There is tax charged at Disney. http://www.shadesofgreen.org/ has lots of information. You can fax them your ticket purchase request along with copy of Military ID, and they will mail your park tickets.

Can you link them to an MDE?

- Yes, once you receive the tickets, you can link them to MDE.

You can also purchase your Military Salute tickets at your local military base MWR too. Call ahead to make sure they have them. These are the 4 day hopper passes for $196. If you purchase them in advance you are given a voucher, not a real ticket. You then enter the voucher number in the MDE linking each ticket to each person in your party. This allows you to make FP reservations in advance. Once you get to WDW, you will need to take each voucher, each Magic Band, each member of your party and the person with their military ID to Guest Relations to activate your tickets prior to entering the park. Each qualifying individual can purchase 6 of these tickets per year. I agree with both PP's the Disney Military site is great.

We just got back from WDW last week and we used the Salute tickets and our military discount on a Disney Resort. If you book at a Disney resort you can add the dining package. Shades of Green does not offer the Disney Dining package, however they do have dining options you can add. I like their breakfast but I'm not a fan of the dinner buffet. Shades of Green is a beautiful resort though. There are trade offs and it all depends on how you tour Disney. What works for you might be different from what works for others.

Also, 2017 Salute ticket prices have been issued and they are offering a 5 day hopper option. Wish that had been available this year.

Thank you for posting this! We have used the military discounted tickets before but not in quite a few years. I knew there had to be a way to link them to MDE so we can book our FP+.
