my daughter is going to travel to Munich Germany to visit her deployed husband. They're looking for the best deals on flights from Prishtina, Kosovo to Munich. Also from Oklahoma City or Dallas to Munich. Any idea Should? They're traveling in March. Thanks!

The husband should be able to hop around to Germany from Kosovo without having to purchase an airline ticket due to him being deployed.

Flying Space A is hard if you don't have the days to sit and wait for a flight. If she needs specific days, some airlines do military discounts. She will need to call and ask for the discount and she her military ID at the counter.

There is a MWR hotel in Germany that is wonderful and typically does specials for deployment specials.

I would either call the airlines directly to see what kind of military discount they give, check skyscanner.com for prices or even abctravel.de for airfare. I have used abctravel.de before and they were the best price for me. Space A wasn't working out to get back to Europe so I bought tickets through abctravel.de 3 days before we flew and they were the same price if I had bought them a month out. I don't know his unit at all, but some units are understanding about Space A and the delays, others are not. That is a decision he would have to make on his own through talking to command and going from there. I personally, don't like the stress of having a time frame, so I would buy the tickets. Munich is a great place, as well all of Germany is really. They are a short drive to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany (Edelweiss is there for US military, great place) Innsbruck, Austria, Bolzano, Italy, they could even hit up Prague for cheap while there. Lots to do in the surrounding area, one of my favorites!

Space A travel is a pain and not recommended if you have to travel on specific dates.

If they are traveling in March, they should be buying tickets now. Try a consolidated web site, such as Expedia to get an idea of schedules and prices, then go directly to the airline websites to book.

Military discounts generally are not as good as the lower economy tickets.

Google Flights or ita.matrix are good sources to find the best prices on airfare.

Also follow secret flying and the points guy for other sources for cheap flights. She should play around on google Flights if there are alternative airports to fly out of.
