When did they start that :confused3 Saw it last night while we were there in electronics.

I don't know. I've only seen the Salvation Army at our local Wal-Marts. Does this upset you?

I used to be engaged to an Army recruiter and he would do it everywhere. It was so annoying. Was like a table set up or was some person just approaching people?

I saw some very handsome marines next to the Toys for Tots box at Walmart. They were in their dress uniforms. They were recruiting toys, not a few good men :rotfl2:

I've seen the military recruiting outside of the stores or in a strip mall.. there is also a "storefront" in one of our local malls.

The recruiters used to come all the time to the high school. When I worked at the high school, it did bother me to a point. The recruiters would walk up to kids (mind you they are still minors) and talk to them.

Sometimes they are worse than those people who work at the stand alone carts in the malls that jump in front of you and demand you try this "hot new hair product." :rotfl:

I've seen that happen in our local mall. A recruiter in a camo uniform would walk up to likely looking candidates, hand them a pamphlet and speak to them about the importance of joining the military. I thought it was kind of weird, but security didn't stop them so I guess it was ok.

Are the recruiters at a lot of Wal-Marts or is it just this one in particular? If it's a national trend I wonder why they are at Wal-Mart and not say Barnes and Noble?

I've not seen it in my area yet. The recruiters are at the recruiting office.

Hey, S.C.!

I've never seen that happen.

But, lately I have been staying away from the stores cause I finished my Christmas shopping awhile ago, and the stores are just too crazy for me. Now - after Christmas is when I love to hit the stores. :)

have'nt seen the miliatry at our local walmart-but the scientologists do have a table set up from time to time giving out copies of dyanetics and doing 'stress readings'

With the hostility that many school systems are giving the military do you blame them for going other places?

:wave2: United States Army Recruiter's Wife here :thumbsup2

What you likely saw at Walmart (and for those of you who have seen Recruiters in malls, stores, etc) is what's called P-3'ing. I have no idea what the technical Army term for this is, but it's basically getting out into the community and talking to potential recruits. It is something that is mandated by USAREC and most of the places Recruiters are sent are not by choice; but what they are told to do.

No table was set up. There was 2 of them & they were walking up & talking to young men who were looking at Ipods, MP3's, video games etc.

I wouldn't say that it upset me, I just found it strange that they would do that. I mean if i want to buy car insurance i will go to the office that sells car insurance. I would not want an insurance agent interrupting my shopping to try to sell it to me, If that happen it would make me say NO right away.
