Military hotel discount. Worth it?

Hi everyone! We have been waiting to hear back from our military travel agent for weeks now about getting a discount at a friendly hotel near DL. We are unsure if she will even get back to us before we leave Sept. 30th. Has anyone used the military discount given by your base? We aren't sure if the discount will be as good as some online offers we've seen. I hate waiting until the last minute but we don't want to do something on our own and have her finally call us back with a better deal 10 minutes later.

Can anyone give me an idea of what kind of discount they have been given from their base?

We are only staying two night (in the middle of the week) and are hoping to spend around $70 or less a night.

Any advice would be great! Thank you!!

Back in 2007 we used the discount voucher from our base and stayed at the Castle Inn and Suites for $38 a night. It was a very basic motel with no frills, but the walk was 10 minutes to the front gate. I am not sure what promos they may have now.

Just to give you an idea, here is a price list from my local MWR office here in San Diego. Most of the hotels in the Anaheim area seem to be in the $80-$90 range. It also lists the Disneyland ticket prices, although this list was last updated in July, before the recent DL ticket price increases. It does give you a good rough idea of the discounts however.

Our base gave us a flyer with the prices set for certain DL area hotels. We called the hotel directly and gave them the PIN. It was easy peasy that way :goodvibes

Hi- We are going to DLR this weekend. Military discounts were laughable. I checked thru MWR as well as directly thru the national hotel sites.... most military rates were actually MORE than the rack rate at some of the hotels. At the Disneryland hotel - the rate was $260 which was more than the 40% off rate offered for stays of 2 or more nights. I ended up going with a rack rate at the residence Hotel (by Marriott) which was $40 a night cheaper than the military rate.

I suppose it depends on what time of year you are going - but I get the feeling that military discount are just not as prevalent here in CA as in FL.

I totally agree with you. The military discounts at DL are laughable when compared to those available at WDW. HUGE difference between the two.
