Anyone heard if they are doing the Salute to Heroes promotion again this next year? That would GREATLY influence our next trip :) .

Someone on another military board I'm on posted they are continuing it, albeit with a slight change. The AD member will not get the free 5 day parkhopper with waterpark option. It will be 99$ for the base ticket and you can upgrade to the parkhopper for 125$. Still a great deal compared to paying at the gate.

I am unsure if there has been official Disney confirmation on this. All I have heard is speculation...

Hmm, funny you post this, because I too belong to a military forum and there someone posted that they called Disney to ask if there would be a military promotion and the CM she spoke with said no. Their big military promotions don't happen every year, it's actually closer to every four or five years, so I wouldn't expect another this year, although I certainly wouldn't complain! She was told (and all I've seen so far), is that the only 2010 promotion is the Give-a-Day promotion.

ETA: This was also just posted on that other military forum. Please note this is for WALT DISNEY WORLD, and I'm not sure if anything exists yet for Disneyland. I'll try to find more...

"It is for active and retired U.S. Military including Coast Guard and active members of the Reserves or National Guard. It also includes permanently disabled veterans with a valid military ID card.

Tickets may be purchased January 3, 2010 through July 31, 2010.

All tickets are valid until Midnight September 30, 2010, regardless of date of first use.

Block-out dates of March 27, 2010 through April 9, 2010 at all locations and July 3 and 4 at Magic Kingdom only.

The tickets are four day base tickets for $99 (plus tax) each. There is no free ticket for the service member. the Park Hopper and the Water Parks Fun & More options can be added for $25 (plus tax) for each option. The tickets cannot have either more days or No Expire added.

Each service member may purchase up to six tickets during the validity period of the offer. If the service member is not present, the spouse or unremarried widow may purchase up to five tickets during the validity period.

The tickets may be upgraded to Seasonal (for Florida Residents) or Annual Passes based on the $99, $124, or $149 value and price bridging will not be performed."

This is great news! I hadn't heard that it was carried over. I'll be driving DD to WDW next month to start her college program and we wanted to spend a few days doing the parks before she starts work. Definitely gonna save money this way.

Thanks for the heads up!

I can't speak for WDW, but I can for DL. (And this is a California disscusion forum anyway.) My Son is stationed on the east coast. We were at DL last week. I went to Guest Services to ask about a current "military promotion". I was told that there is not a promotion now. I was told that my Son could have purchased discounted tickets on his base. When I explained that he is from the east coast and DL tickets are not offered there, they said yes they had heard that before. They did however tell us that he could go to the nearest military base and purchase tickets. We opted to pay full price as to not lose hours of our day ( and his precious leave time) on the road to purchase the tickets. We had a terrific time. :yay::tink:

I wouldn't hold my breath. Disney doesn't offer military discounts out of the kindness of their hearts, but out of the bottom line.
Disney, unlike the Busch Parks, only give free tickets and discounts to the military when they really have to. In the SoCal area, they have the worst discount rate when purchased at ITT, typically not even $5 off, where Six Flags, Legoland, etc, are almost half off gate price.

SOOO true! I would have only saved $0.50 on my annual pass if I bought it through the MWR, and 3-day PH's were only a $10.00 discount when I called. I thought it was like that everywhere, but through comparing prices on this site, I found out that we just get shafted here in SoCal, and that there are much better Disney discounts at other military bases in different parts of the country. Why? Well, because of course so many people here in SoCal are military and it would be a breeze for us to go, so they don't want to lose all that money. Knott's, Six Flags, and Universal, as you mentioned, are usually 50% off.

In Disneys defense I must say that the "Armed Forces Salute" promotion was very generous. Back in May my Son was home on leave and he got a 3-day Park Hopper for free, yes this was complimentary, and he could purchased discounted tickets for the rest of us. I do not remember the offer as for the purchased tickets as we have Ap's and we did not use this part of the promotion, but I do believe it was up to 6 tickets could be purchased.:dogdance::tink:
