When Disney feels ready to implement their next promotion they will do so. If other recent promotions have been any indication, for about the first month nobody will really understand it and the Marketing people will not have thought out all the ramifications.

Isn't that the truth?!!!!

I have no crystal ball but I'm expecting Disney to offer great discounts through 2010 in order to attract visitors in a down economy. It would only make sense to offer another discount for military families as a recognition for their sacrifice for our country.

the last time Disney offered military specials like this year's, they did it 2 years back to back. Hopefully they'll repeat again next year.

Does anybody remember when they announced the discount last year? We have a trip planned for this January and I've been holding off on buying our tickets in the hopes of another great deal!

I think it was IN january when they last announced it....I really hope they offer it again....this grand gathering i'm trying to do may not happen without it!!

The dates for the 2009 Armed Forces Salute are January 4 - December 23, 2009.

Thanks for the info. We'll be there the 5th through the 10th, so hopefully if they do offer it again, they'll announce it before we buy our passes!

I hope they do offer it again, also hoping that if it is a continuation of the promotion from this year that it won't affect those who already used the promotion (free ticket, $99 tickets, 40% off room rate discounts, etc.)

We were fortunate enough to be able to go to Disney World in July 09 because of all the military specials that were offered, if they are offered again in 2010 we would love to be able to take advantage of those perks (so hopefully it's not a "you've used the promo once and now you're out" type of deal).

Last time they did it back to back, we went two years in a row.

Actually, the first year they offered it, we went twice, once under me and once under DH, we're both active duty....but same last name, same address and nobody batted an eyelash!

Crossing my fingers (and everything else, lol!) that they offer another military promo next year. I'm selfishly hoping they include the retirees as they did this year, as DH is retired AF, and we often see promos for active duty folks only. I'm not giving up hope yet that we might be able to go before the end of this year, but it's not looking good...I think we'll have a better chance to get there in 2010.

The military discount tickets that started January 4th 2009, were not announced until January 4th! We were staying at Shades of Green and bought park tickets on January 2nd, and there was nothing posted about it. We walked down by there a couple days later and there is a big poster. If I knew about it, I would have waited the 2 days to buy tickets. However it did give us an excuse to come back to WDW in Jul 09. Therefore, I think Disney will wait until the last minute IF they do the promotion in 2010 (and that is a big IF).

Wow, that's a shame that you missed out like that. I'm afraid the same thing will happen to us. We'll be arriving in WDW on the 6th, but we're DVC members. If we want to take advantage of the DVC discount on annual passes, I think we need to order ahead of time (I'll have to check on that though.) The DVC discount is nice, but not nearly as nice as the military salute!

Hi, DVC Annual Passes can be bought at Guest Services (just like all Annual Passes),you will need to show your DVC Member Card and your form of ID. Joan

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll hold off on ordering them then and keep my fingers crossed for the military discount to come out in the meantime!
